June 2024 TBR
Hello friends!! Welcome to the June 2024 TBR. A post where I will attempt to intuit what I feel like reading for the month of June. Or rather, ChatGPT will, because I decided to try something new and different.
So, I’ve been playing with ChatGPT to do other things in my life, and today I was like “why don’t I ask it to recommend me 10 books to read? what could possibly go wrong?” FYI, I am mildly concerned that I just won’t read anything on this TBR, but you know what? That’s OK. Kind of.

And to be fair, after I gave it some examples of books that I loved (because it can’t read Goodreads shelves or Google sheets), the recommendations weren’t half bad. I mean, we went back and forth a couple of times because it started giving me some wild sci-fi recommendations. But, I did tell it that I loved The Rook, so that’s on me.
However, we did eventually get 10 books that a) I own, and b) I haven’t read. Even without access to my trusty TBR spreadsheet. And by ‘a couple of times’, I mean we did have to go through 50 books to find 10. I learned from this, and got more specific in my questions towards the end. Unfortunately this resulted in ChatGPT recommending me a lot of books that I had already read. But, I only had to fill two gaps by then.
So, with the most interesting help from ChatGPT, let’s build a TBR for June 2024. That I may or may not stick to.

June 2024 TBR
Ok, so… first let’s briefly discuss my May 2024 TBR to see what happened and what didn’t happen. If you’ve been following along with my WWW Wednesday posts, you’ll know that I (amazingly) read 4 out of 5 of my buddy read/ARC books. And the last one I gave myself a pass on because it is now the Romance Revelry Society’s buddy read for June.
I also finished ONE of my books to finish (out of 10, so that’s a fail), and ONE of my challenge books (out of 5, so that’s also a fail…). However, I did read 13 books in May (so far, I could finish one more tonight), so it’s not ALL bad news. It’s just that most of them weren’t actually on my TBR per se. Which is FINE. This is the life of a mood reader.
So, how I’ve split the 20 books that I definitely won’t read in June are as follows:
10 books recommended by ChatGPT (after a lot of back and forth)
2 books that are buddy reads (yes, The Cruel Prince will be a reread, but I just really want to do this all over again)
3 books from my challenge lists (that have been on my TBRs for a while now…)
5 books that I’ve started this year and just really need to finish… for the love of anything, it would be really great to just bloody tick them off…
The GREAT news is that I can also use a few of the books from the AI list to tick off some prompts on my Beat the Backlist bingo card. And some of the ‘need to finish’ books are also on my challenge lists… Hence me starting them. In fact, now that I’ve finally started tallying these things (as per my first quarter wrap up, which I still haven’t posted), I can see how much I have actually achieved!! And THAT is motivating. Who knew.
Covers should be Goodreads links. Hopefully.
ai recommendations
buddy reads and challenge books
books (still) to finish

Using ChatGBT for book recommendations is an interesting thought. I just might have to try it sometime, especially for my audiobooks! I always seem to be struggling to find something to listen to.π You have a pretty good list, I have read many of them and thought them all good. Good luck with your reading!
