February ’20 wrap up and March TBR

Good morning bookworms! It’s time for the monthly wrap-up!

what i read

During January… I got sick and had 2 migraines (new record). I also didn’t read anything for 11 days. That’s a pretty good record.

Reading though? I read 6 books… which is the equal lowest number of books read per month in the last two years. (June 2019 was also 6 books!) Also, two of the books that I finished were even on my TBR for February, so I basically won because that never happens!

However, I’m trying not to beat myself up over these things, because life happens, etc. and I’m practicing self-care this year, which includes being forgiving of your shortfalls, not just getting a pedicure once a quarter and doing a face mask.

Fave book for the month without a doubt, goes to An Ember in the Ashes. I am ridiculously excited for the rest of the series, but I’m also trying very hard NOT to binge read it, because Sabaa just posted that she has finished writing book 4, but that likely means that it’s at least another year away as edits and all sorts of stuff happens in between.

what's up next

AH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. So, my husband finally decided which books should go on my immediate TBR. He agreed to do a TBR for me about a year ago, and I’ve been waiting ever since (with trepidation) because he is going to kill me. Because he agreed to do it last year, he had to pick TEN books (because that was the monthly average that I read last year).

So, let’s get down to his picks for me.

  • The Gilded Wolves – Roshani Chokshi
  • Fire and Heist – Sarah Beth Durst
  • Lady Midnight – Cassandra Clare
  • Lord of Shadows – Cassandra Clare
  • Queen or Air and Darkness – Cassandra Clare
  • The Rise of Kyoshi – F. C. Yee
  • Don’t Date Rosa Santos – Nina Moreno
  • The Lord of the Rings trilogy – J. R. R. Tolkien

However, I have tried to read Tolkien like 6 times, and I just can’t do it. So, knowing this, I’m going to swap out TLotR and put these three on because I MUST read them!!

  • The Night Country – Melissa Albert (overdue ARC)
  • Havenfall – Sara Holland (ARC)
  • The Seafarer’s Kiss – Julia Ember (last month’s friend pick)

on my blog

Honestly, there wasn’t a great deal of content last month (again, trying not to beat myself up).

However, there was one post that I’ve actually been thinking about for a year, finally finished it, and you guys seemed to love it: 10 classic fantasy books you should read (one day). I have read all of the books on this list, and loved them, and it’s a list that I hope you like!!

Also, stay tuned for big things happening on the blog soon. I can’t talk about it yet, but I’m going to be so excited to show you all soon!!

what i did

I didn’t do all that much in February…

  • I worked a lot – lots of long hour days.
  • I played a lot of D&D, including my first ever in-person session!
  • I caught up on Hawaii Five-0 when I was sick.

That was pretty much it. I’m still crazy behind on blog-hopping too.

How was your February?

until next time, happy reading! Meeghan xo

Thank you May!! My plan is to start Lady Midnight tomorrow and I am EXCITED!!
I’m also hoping to space Ember 2 and 3 out a little because we have to wait until Dec for Ember 4… but really, this was a great time to start them!!

I can’t get into Tolkein either. Tried with The Hobbit, really didn’t like it, and so the Lord of the Rings is out of bounds for a while. On the other hand, I also loved An Ember in the Ashes when I read it a couple of years ago. I haven’t read the other instalments yet but I’m slowly tempted to now the fourth and final book is in edits!

OH MY GOD, I’m SO HAPPY you loved Get a Life, Chloe Brown!! I adore Talia Hibbert, and every time I see someone enjoy her books I get so darn happy, haha. I’m looking forward to what you’ll think of The Night Country, I liked the first book A LOT, but I’m not very interested in the sequel, tbh. I’d much rather have the anthology right now instead.. Best of luck in March!

February was also a pretty bad reading month for me. I only read 4 books, when my average is closer to 10 per month. But since I had a really busy month, I’m mostly glad that I made time for reading at all!

I really enjoyed Get a Life, Chloe Brown when I read it a few months back! I can’t wait for Take a Hint, Dani Brown to be released!

I hope you have a wonderful March, and enjoy all the books on your TBR!

Let's chat!
