WWW Wednesday — 7 February 2024

Hello bookworms!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday — 7 February 2024!!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:

  • What did you recently finish?

  • What are you currently reading?

  • And, what do you think you’ll read next?

Let’s see what I have been reading… (All images will link to Goodreads if you click on them. Potentially.)

what i finished

Look, HOFAS was a slog, but we made it. And I was cheering because I thought it was all happy endings and nicely wrapped up. AND THEN I REALISED. If you haven’t read it, don’t worry, I won’t be saying what I realised. But if you have read, reach out to my insta DMs and we can chat. And then I read some angsty drama, and then a lovely wholesome meet-cute. The dream. 🥰

House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J Maas
Rogue by Elle Kennedy
Worst Wingman Ever by Abby Jimenez

Author: Sarah J Maas
Series: Crescent City #3
Released: 30 Jan 2024

Uhh… 4 was probably generous. Closer to a 3.5 rating.

Title: Rogue
Author: Elle Kennedy
Series: Prep #2
Released: 7 Mar 2023
Read: Feb 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was so angsty. Like, emo teen drama, but the banter was adult level…

Title: Worst Wingman Ever
Author: Abby Jimenez
Series: Improbable Meet Cute #2
Released: 23 Jan 2024
Read: Feb 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Adorable, sad-and-happy crying short story. Gave me more emotions in 61 pages than HOFAS.

what i'm reading

Ok, so I know these books (very short stories?) are not on any of my TBRs. But Ashley Poston (who wrote one) has been banging on about them all over my Insta feed. And honestly, work is hard and I need some sweet meet-cutes in my life.

I tried to buy them in a full set, but Amazon is only selling them individually, which actually works out fine because then I don’t have to get the CL one. I don’t vibe with their work. It just ends up pissing me off.

So, I’m currently in the middle of the third one (because I skipped the first), and it’s also adorable (but probably not recommended if you suffer from terrible claustrophobia).

And they are going to exponentially increase my Goodreads early goal smashing ability. Which I’m sure will counter all the week-long reading of 800+ page books later this year.

Plus, you know, it’s Valentine’s Day this month. So meet-cute short-stories are my way of supporting new-to-me romance authors and two of my fave old-to-me authors too.

Rosie and the Dreamboat by Sally Thorne

what's up next

The Forest Grimm by Kathryn Purdie

OK, so this is confession time. I actually went to start this yesterday after I finished Rogue. But the ending of Rogue was so wild, all I did was add The Forest Grimm to my Goodreads as ‘currently-reading’, then I went in search of something happy.

So, my plan is to maybe keep a couple of the meet-cute adorables for in-between filler books later on, and start on some Slavic-folklore retelling mythology YA fantasy books (my all-time fave jam) and see where we land.

Which means we’re heading back into February 2024 TBR territory after my smol early escape. But it’s ok. The TBR will be prevail. Maybe.
