Hello friends!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday — 31 July 2024!!
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:
What did you recently finish?
What are you currently reading?
And, what do you think you’ll read next?
Let’s see what I have been reading… (All images will link to Goodreads if you click on them. Potentially.)

Hello. I finished three books this week. All of them were ice hockey sports romance. Now, while two of them were good. I really need to actually read books on my bookshelf. Fantasies, thrillers, mysteries, sci-fis, contemporaries. Even the actual romances I have in paperback. Literally anything except for more sports romances on my kindle app.
Title: The Au Pair Affair
Author: Tessa Bailey
Series: Big Shots #2
Released: 16 Jul 2024
Read: July 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️
I was right, and the ick factor was strong in this. More about her past and then how she ‘enjoyed’ being treated. Also the boss/employee power dynamic.
Title: Shutout
Author: Avery Keelan
Series: Rules of the Game #2
Released: 1 Jul 2023
Read: July 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I know I’m reading too many of these when it took me a third of the book to remember the series. But I did enjoy this (older brothers best friend) book.
Title: If You Want Me
Author: Helena Hunting
Series: Toronto Terror #2
Released: 11 Jul 2024
Read: July 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dad’s best friend / age gap. I liked the personal growth in this one. For both characters. And the slightly unhinged banana duck obsession.
I continue to plod my way through The Priory of the Orange Tree, but it’s still very slow going.
It doesn’t help that sometimes I think “oh, I probably couldn’t push myself to read the remaining 600 pages this weekend”. And then I smash through two romance novels (and push through a third) that total just shy of 1,200 pages in a weekend.
I do tell myself that reading fantasy takes more time than reading romance. But the maths doesn’t add up when I’m reading double romance what I am required to for fantasy.
I am really enjoying it though, which is great news. I do think this will sit around a 4-5 star rating. But I just need to get past the brain block, although it’s not easy.
Ahh yes, my August 2024 TBR now comes to play. I must say, it’s very neat finishing a month out on a Wednesday.
Anyway, as per the TBR (which I very rarely stick to), I hope to continue India Holton’s Dangerous Damsels series. Especially since we have added the series to the buddy read list since we finished The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels.
Book two is The League of Gentlewomen Witches, and I am very excited to read it.
And Apprentice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer, which is an anticipated book of mine this quarter, comes out on Tuesday. I don’t know that I will make it to a bookstore before the weekend, but I am very keen to read it very soon!! August is where will I continue all of my fantasy books that I keep saying I should read (and then never do).
