Hello friends!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday — 30 October 2024!!
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:
What did you recently finish?
What are you currently reading?
And, what do you think you’ll read next?
Let’s see what I have been reading… (All images will link to Goodreads if you click on them. Potentially.)

WWW Wednesday — 30 October 2024
Ummm… so last week I didn’t finsh any books. And that’s ok. Mostly because I already hit my Goodreads goal for the year. But also because sometimes life happens and you just don’t get as much time to read as you would like.
And then some weeks you get a weekend with absolutely NO PLANS whatsoever. And that is a thing of absolute beauty. Primarily because I just got to sit down all weekend and read books. Nothing else. I didn’t do laundry or unpack the dishwasher. I just sat and read and drank tea. It was bliss.
And this week I finished FOUR books. The dream.
Title: Blitz
Author: Daniel O’Malley
Series: Checquy Files #3
Released: 18 Oct 2022
Read: October 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really wanted to love this book more. I wavered on giving it 3.5 stars and then round up, but ultimately decided to round down. The backstory dump letter, the crossover of the two stories and the somewhat anticlimactic ending all contributed.
Title: Wolfsong
Author: TJ Klune
Series: Green Creek #1
Released: 20 Jun 2016
Read: October 2024
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
My first Klune and this was not a disappointment. At all. I loved it with my whole heart. The friendship, the romance, the pacing, the writing, the characters. All of it, *chefs kiss*. I could not ask for a better werewolf story.
Title: Cashmere Cruelty
Author: Nicole Fox
Series: Groza Bratva #1
Released: 23 Oct 2024
Read: October 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I now only read Nicole Fox mafia romances. There’s some spice, but it’s not the centre of the plot. The characters are good. The story (drama) is great. The violence is not too much. I just love these stories.
Title: Cashmere Ruin
Author: Nicole Fox
Series: Groza Bratva #2
Released: 23 Oct 2024
Read: October 2024
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I didn’t LOVE the ending, but it was still really good. One thing I didn’t mention before was the length. These books sit right in the sweet spot of just right. Not too long, not too short. And two books per couple, with dual POVs. They’re just so good.
Yes, I am FINALLY back to reading The Sinister Booksellers of Bath by Garth Nix. Last week I said that I had found my copy.
I was about 25% of the way through the book, but I did have to back-track about 2 chapters to jog my memory of what was happening. Mostly because I started this in September 2023.
So, you know, it’s been a while…
I don’t know that I am going to get to read a lot this week. Our weekly board game night is back on (first time since June due to a multitude of reasons. I have a work event on one evening. We’re going away on the weekend to a wedding. And next week I have post-work dinners and a Stephen Fry event.
It’s a jam-packed week ahead. But, at least if I haven’t finished a book next week I can let you know what seeing Stephen Fry was like.
Uhh, so confession time. I’m putting Harrow Lake by Kat Ellis on here because I haven’t done my November TBR yet. And it’s on my 12 in 12, and my October TBR list.
However… I got this book as an ARC. And my friend, Em, picked it for me to read. But I am not really a horror reader. And I just read the synopsis and it sounds… really freaky. I don’t know that I will ever read this book.
So, maybe I won’t read it?! Ever. Probably.

What are you currently reading?

A weekend spent reading and drinking tea sounds blissful (although I might swap the tea for coffee). I have to say that I think the cover for Harrow Lake would definitely put me off reading it.

It’s so creepy Janette!! I definitely wouldn’t have bought it for myself…

I’m somewhat on a point where I am reading again. Though, it’s pretty short ngl. I just have nothing left I’d like to read, really. Reaching my Goodreads goal was a success. So I’m trying to keep my mind busy with something to read. Anything, really, as long as my preferences are met 😂
meeghan
Oooh, what do you feel like? Or what was your last 5 star read? Maybe we can come up with some recs for you!
Samy @ insamyniac
I’m looking for a good 1st person why choose fantasy, new adult, story. Wouldn’t mind if there’d be sequels or if it’s a single book. A badass heroine who can fight would be great, too. My last reads that got pretty close to 5 stars where Blood Oath by Morgan B. Lee and The Blackened Blade by Isla Davon. However, I didn’t like the sequel of Blood Oath too much and am twisted on Blackened Bond. Which I haven’t read yet but not heard the best about either xD

Have you read Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti? It’s 4 books long which isn’t as long (or convoluted) as their other series. It’s dark fantasy, but I really enjoyed all of the books.
Samy @ insamyniac
Ooh! No, I haven’t but it’s on my maybe-later list, so I will just put it up as a next read. I haven’t read the Zodiac Academy books either, wasn’t really sure about them tbh. If I like this series, maybe I continue with the Zodiac Academy as well. Thanks a lot!
meeghan
I wouldn’t bother with Zodiac Acaedmy. It’s so long. I’m 2 books from the very end and I just don’t know if I care about any of the characters enough to finish it. Also, Zodiac is more fated mates than why choose. But Ruthless Boys was good.
Samy @ insamyniac
Oohh gotcha!
Samy @ insamyniac
Okay, I remembered why I haven’t read them yet – they’re multiple POV 😂
meeghan
Ahh… Then I should warn you that Ruthless Boys is also multiple POV, but far less than Zodiac is.

Ty!
I read the first page and it feels really familiar. So, I’m not sure if I read it already and can’t remember – that’s why I use Goodreads 😂
I’ll give it a try anyway. The new Life is Strange game comes first, though 💖
Samy @ insamyniac
I now know I can’t stand Dante’s PoV. Not sure if I want to continue, since I read his thoughts.. 😂
meeghan
Hahahaha, sorry… he gets better. They all do!!
