WWW Wednesday – 29 July 2020

Hello bookworms!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday – 29 July 2020!!

This is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:

  • What did you recently finish?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • And, what do you think you’ll read next?

I did not read as much as I was planning on reading this week… but I think I’m still going to make a pretty big dent in the read-a-thon!! And I still have another three days to read like 6 more books. That’s achievable, right?!!

what i finished

So… these were short books. But they still count, and that’s the main thing!! Right?! ?

Fence Volume 4: Rivals by C. S. Pacat

YAAAAASSSSSSSS!!!! My boys arrived, and I loved every single second of reading this. Also, I am not going to patient waiting for the next one. I used to get the single issues for the first 12, and I got one every month and I don’t know if I can wait three to four months for the next one of these!! But seriously, there were some truly beautiful moments in the volume.

Love, Creekwood by Becky Albertalli

This is another one that has been on my ‘pre-ordered and waited forever for it to turn up’ list. But it’s not what I expected it to be (because I never do any research into anything, so that’s on me). It’s a series of emails between the Creekwood crew while they’re at their first year of university. It definitely gives you all the feels though!!

Amulet #4 The Last Council by Kazu Kibuishi

I finally got to Volume 4 and it was so good! This story is so completely unpredictable, I never have any idea of where it’s going. But the ride is so FUN!! We meet new characters in this one, and it’s tense in some parts. But Emily and Niven are coming into their own, and the whole story is seriously amazing.

Amulet #5 Prince of Elves by Kazu Kibuishi

OK, so I just couldn’t wait, and I read Volume 5 straight away. I would have read Volumes 6-8 as well, but I don’t have them!! I’m going to have to just buy 1 per month until the final story (Volume 9) is out this year or I might cry. Anyway, the story got HECTIC, but also AMAZING. This is the halfway point and Emily learned something HUGE!! It’s totally changed the game. (Please excuse me while I just scream into the abyss over here for a bit… nothing new!)

Back on track!! I just need to finish these!!

Mortal Instruments #2 City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Book 2 in The Mortal Instruments is ongoing. As with the first book, I had started with the physical copy, but I’ve now switched to audio and I got through a fair chunk while painting and what not last week!! I’m probably about halfway through now.

Loveless by Alice Oseman

This book is amazing and I am so in love with it already. Georgia is such a fascinating character, and it breaks my heart every time she doubts herself. I just want to adopt her and tell her that she’s not broken. Despite only being halfway through (the book and the year), I think this book is going to make my top 10 for the year. It’s hard-hitting, and it’s ownvoices. You can’t really get better than that. (Also, in my head, Georgia looks exactly like Alice…)

what's up next

Rat Queens Volume 2: The Far Reaching Tentacles of N'Rygoth by Kurtis J. WiebeOk, so I still have Rat Queens Volume 2 to get in for the read-a-thon, and I might even reread Volume 1 because it’s been an AGE since I read it. (Pretty sure it was 2018… oops?!)

I did get more review books this week too, but one of them was Loveless, which I already had… so, I’m now doing a giveaway on my instagram (shameless plugging link post here) for my extra copy and a couple of other doubles I have. Oh yeah… so I’ll probably have to try and squeeze something else in if I want to hit all the points in the challenge. Or just listen to a lot of Shadowhunters on audio!! At… work?!

What are you currently reading??

until next time, happy reading! Meeghan xo
