What a week of reading!! Or really… what a week where an anticipated read came out and I smashed it in order to beat spoilers…

I don’t know about you all, but I felt like A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas has been absolutely everywhere since it came out last week. There are pictures of it all over Bookstagram. It’s clogging up my feed on Goodreads. It has its own channel in one of the Discord channels I’m on. It’s literally taking over the bookish world. And to be perfectly honest, after smashing the entire book out in just over 24 hours, I can absolutely see why.

Yes… I’m back on the sports / university / ice hockey romances. Although The Chase by Elle Kennedy left quite a lot to be desired. In more way that one. I actually genuinely disliked this book, and the only thing stopping it from being 1 star were the girl power thoughts the MC has every so often. I also want to point out that this book needs trigger warnings for sexual assault and victim blaming. It was particularly disappointing because I have really liked all the other Elle Kennedy books I’ve read to date.

And finally, we have Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman. I am aware that technically this book doesn’t come out until May this year. However, I’m a Patreon supporter of Alice’s, and amongst other things, $5 per month gets you a couple of pages each week (around 4 on average). I’ve been reading Volume 4 since 15 November 2019, an last night Alice posted the final page. And it is chefs kiss. SO adorably amazing. I can’t wait for everyone else to read it. (And Tori gets to be her total badass self in it!!)

Just in case you didn’t hear me scream from wherever you are, I got my copy of Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas this week. *Finally!* So, you can be rest assured that I’m reading it right now. I mean, maybe not right this second that you’re reading this – I might be at work. But I am reading it.

• Kingdom of Sea and Stone by Mara Rutherford

OK, so I acknowledge that I am definitely reading too many books at the moment. BUT when I finish some, I am absolutely reading Phoenix Flame by Sara Holland. I got a review copy from Bloomsbury in the post yesterday and I need to know what happens!! Phoenix Flame is the sequel to Havenfall which I read last year.

Repeating from the last few weeks, I *still* really need to start on either The Land of Stories books by Chris Colfer, OR The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. (One day I will start these…) I’m going to put a poll on Instagram later this month (maybe?!), so please vote and help me decide!!
