WWW Wednesday – 22 July 2020

Hello bookworms!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday – 22 July 2020.

I know it’s technically Thursday here now, but it’s also 2am and I haven’t gone to bed yet… so I’m taking it. WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:

  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • And, what do you think you’ll read next?

I’m actually really impressed with how much I read this week. It was a lot. Not just in terms of numbers of books, but in page count too.

I did want to catch up on blogging this week, but alas, I decided to paint my study / library instead. So it’s been a lot of unpacking bookshelves, moving bookshelves, prepping, painting, moving bookshelves, and putting books back. And that’s only half the room!! I need to do the same for the other half too.

what i finished

So, I read a lot this week!! And really different genres. It was so good!!

Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts) by L. C. Rosen

OMFG. Just in case you couldn’t tell from my review this week, I read this beauty and absolutely fell in love with it. All of the stars. Also, just a really important book that dealt with some really intense topics.

Amulet #3 The Cloud Searchers by Kazu Kibuishi

I am still really enjoying this series. It’s action-y enough, but still has it’s little quiet moments. And I love that Emily isn’t a Mary Sue and has figured out her new powers quickly.

Hands Down by Mariana Zapata

I probably surprised myself with this one. I wasn’t planning on reading it, but I just … started it on Sunday, and then finished it on Monday. It was good, and a nice story for Zac, but it wasn’t what I wanted.

Oooof. This is where we start to witness the bookworm who doesn’t know what she wants to read start to spiral slowly out of control…

Mortal Instruments #2 City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Book 2 in The Mortal Instruments is ongoing. As with the first book, I had started with the physical copy, but I’ve now switched to audio as I’ve been painting and I have other things to catch up on!!

Amulet #4 The Last Council by Kazu Kibuishi

As with the previous volumes, I am really enjoying this series a lot. I feel like Volume 4 is getting darker again, but it’s just such a beautiful story!!

Loveless by Alice Oseman

So I totally got this in the mail the same day as I got Jack of Hearts, and after I smashed through Jack, I picked this one up instantly, and have been reading a couple of chapters here and there between other stuff. I’m really liking it.

Love, Creekwood by Becky Albertalli

What can I say, except that I have very low impulse control, and I started reading this as soon as it arrived. I’m not even sorry. I have been giggling out loud to myself while reading this one. It’s cute and funny and completely adorable.

Also, my copy of Fence: Rivals finally arrived today. So I’m looking forward to putting this in next week’s read pile!!
