WWW Wednesday — 20 March 2024

Hello friends!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday — 20 March 2024!!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:

  • What did you recently finish?

  • What are you currently reading?

  • And, what do you think you’ll read next?

Let’s see what I have been reading… (All images will link to Goodreads if you click on them. Potentially.)

what i finished

Umm… for the first time this year, I finished… only one book.

It feels anticlimactic.

But, I am surprisingly 10 books ahead on my Goodreads goal for the year, so I am not sweating this. At all.

In fact, I might feel good about it.

It’s kind of wild.

Hockey romances are safety reads. This is a hill I might die on. However, I still think I’m really done with romances for a bit now.

what i'm reading

Ahhh… and this is where I come unstuck. Because while I only finished one book this past week, I have started MANY.

In fact, here’s a snapshot of all the books that I currently have on the go. (Yes, this IS terrifying. And yes, I really do just need to finish a book.)

Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
The Forest Grimm by Kathryn Purdie
Heartless Sky by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

what's up next

The Prisoner's Throne by Holly Black

F*** it. Let’s throw another one on the pile. I mean, it is physically ON my current TBR pile.

So, for a science experiment this month, I decided to create an actual, physical, tangible TBR pile. Small stack. Of books. On my desk.

Partly because I thought that if I could actually SEE the books I planned to read this month then I would engage with them. And, it might be working? I’m not sure.

I do enjoy seeing the books. It’s a good reminder that actually I have unread books. (Trust me when I say that looking at my bookshelves, which are sorted by colour, this is not always obvious.)

And I am definitely picking them up. But then I am taking them around the apartment and leaving them in other places. I’m not saying that I have LOST any. I have just temporarily relocated them. Somewhere. (This may or may not be why I am not making finishing progress on my TBR, but much success in starting books on my TBR.)

However, I did add The Prisoner’s Throne by Holly Black to the pile after I picked up my copy the other week. So, I might just read it next.

Well, at least the one you finished was a good one, right? Haha, I can definitely relate! And I have a feeling that from the list your currently reading, soon at least one of them will jump out and you’ll find that it’s so good you can’t stand to put it down until you’ve finished. At least that’s usually been my experience, when a similar situation arises. Happy reading!
