WWW Wednesday — 19 June 2024

Hello friends!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday — 19 June 2024!!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:

  • What did you recently finish?

  • What are you currently reading?

  • And, what do you think you’ll read next?

Let’s see what I have been reading… (All images will link to Goodreads if you click on them. Potentially.)

what i finished

Somehow (completely unintentionally), I have fallen down the very deep, dark hole that is Under the Oak Tree (again). It’s not a bad hole by any means. It’s just all consuming because it’s so addictive to read. And each individual book doesn’t feel very long because they’re usually less than 300 pages. So you feel like you can just keep smashing them out.

Honestly, I think I just needed something different, but comforting, because I could feel a slump coming after finishing The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo last week.

Anyway… that was my week.

I feel like there’s going to be lots of war this season.

what i'm reading

I believe for the rest of the month I’m just going to throw out my ‘currently reading’ long list (that has been haunting me weekly) and stop guilting myself every time I come here. Am I making progress in my other books? No. Is it because I’m secretly DNFing them? Also no.

Honestly, I’m just not up for concentrating on new fantasy worlds at the moment. Between work and this impending cough that I hope doesn’t turn into something, there’s not a whole lot of brain space free up there. And that’s ok. Because now is the time to finish some other series and smash (no pun intended) through some romance novels.

So, I’m going to finish Maxi and Riftan’s story, which I understand from the internet will now finish at the end of season 2 because the author is having issues with copyright for the translations. Which is terribly sad. (But also means I will be able to finish-finish the series!! Silver linings, people.)

what's up next

A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L Jensen

LOL. At this point I feel like it’s a race between Sam and I as to who will start A Fate Inked in Blood last and/or finish it first. Book club talk day is 28 June, so as long as I start it sometime this week I should be fine. FINE!! Remember what I just said about new fantasy novels and my current brain capacity? Yeah… it’s going to be a time.

However, this book has some great reviews from people that I trust on insta and goodreads, so that’s one thing going for it. It’s based on Norse mythology (and we all know how much I love mythology-based books). It is the first in a new series, but I’m hoping it’s a short series…

Or maybe I’ll just keep pushing through the Under the Oak Tree series by Suji Kim. I think after my current one there’s only two more left. They are generally under 300 pages, but the last one is a bit longer.

Either way it’s romantasy for the rest of the month at this stage.
