Hello bookworms!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday — 19 January 2022!!
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:
- What did you recently finish?
- What are you currently reading?
- And, what do you think you’ll read next?
Let’s see what I read!
12-18 January 2022
Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle 🗒
Twice Shy is adorable. Like, I LOVED You Deserve Each Other (just in case you couldn’t tell), and while this was ALSO a 5-star read, it’s hard to compare them since they are so different. I did love You Deserve Each Other more, and I can’t help comparing them. But Twice Shy definitely leaves its own mark on you as a reader. It’s a really lovely story. Any yes, I cried while reading it.
Well Matched by Jen DeLuca 🗒
OK, so I haven’t EXACTLY stuck to my TBR… But, it came in the mail last week and I just wanted to read it immediately… So I did! Well Matched is the third book in the Well Met series, and to be honest, it’s probably my fave to date. I just really loved April and Mitch’s story, and I keep going back to my notes to add in a sentence here or there. It’s also my first book of 2022 that I read in one sitting! AND there’s now going to be a FOURTH book!! YAY!!
Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan 🗒
I am slightly worried that this is going to be a slog… Today I actively folded laundry I’ve been putting off for weeks instead of picking up this book. And then I cooked dinner from scratch and cleaned up the kitchen. I’m hoping this is just ‘first couple of chapters’ hard slog, and I just need to push through the first 100 pages. It’s been so long since I’ve read book 1, and honestly, I’ve read so many other amazing books since then. But, I’m keeping my fingers crossed I can do this!!
The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer 🎧
I know, it has been a HOT MINUTE since I was listening to this. But, I can confirm that even though it has been months, I was able to pick up the story again after only rewinding 2 minutes to remind me what was happening. Which wasn’t even the start of the chapter!! Luckily (ha!) I had heaps of laundry to fold, as audiobooks are my go-to laundry folding activity. And if I keep going at this rate, I should be finished this pretty soon. Also, not sure if I’ve mentioned before, but all of the shout outs to Chris Colfer — his narration of his own books is second to none.
Unless Percy Jackson picks up, I am definitely going to need something contemporary to break up these books… And since I’ve read all the contemporary that I picked this month, I’ll either be rolling the dice on my Bookopoly board, OR reading a new book that came in.
And the only new book that came in AND is contemporary (that I also don’t have to read a previous book for is Here’s To Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera. Which I really DO want to read soon!!
