WWW Wednesday – 19 Dec 2018

Good morning bookworms!

Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday! What is this, you ask? Well, it’s a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. All you have to do is answer the three following questions:

• What did you recently finish reading?

So, without further ado, let’s get started!

What I recently finished reading…

BLEGH! Can I start off by telling you guys that I think I read about 30 pages this week. Actually, I read EXACTLY 37 pages.

“But why Meeghan? You’re on holidays now. You should be able to read more than three chapters!” You’re right! I should have been able to read more than 37 pages… but unfortunately this is how my week went down:

Thursday: Worked all day, attended team Christmas dinner, went home and baked 120 cupcakes for work Christmas party on Friday.
Friday: Took husband to emergency in the morning for x-rays as he hurt his ankle and couldn’t walk. Got to work late (and only stayed for 30 mins), went to dentist appointment because I had a toothache. Ended up having emergency dental surgery (under anaesthetic) and never went back to work… (thankfully had dropped off cupcakes already).
Saturday: Slept on and off all day due to anaesthetic from previous day, and complained about being hungry as can’t eat solid foods.
Sunday: SOREST FACE EVER. Managed with pain medication which made things slightly fuzzy and couldn’t really read. Read 37 pages but gave up after having to re-read a lot of paragraphs.
Monday: Went into work to finish off some things I never got to on Friday, ended up working from home rest of day.
Tuesday: Christmas shopping and cleaning of house. Started packing for holidays. Pet sitter cancelled so have been desperately searching for replacement.
Wednesday: Well, that’s today. I think I’m still crying. My holidays have not been stress-free so far.

So…. I didn’t finish any books. But next week, I am totally ignoring the world to smash through some books! I also didn’t go to my cousin’s wedding or look at the apartment we want to buy, so it was basically a “FAIL” all-round. Like, if this week was an OWL test, I probably would have scored it a T for TROLL.

What I am currently reading…

• Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick
• Ilahara: The Last Myrassar by C. M. Karys (beta)

Yup, same books as last week… But I’m kind of thinking about DNF’ing Finale. There’s so much teenage angst it’s making me want to headbutt walls (and that’s bad because I have stitches in my face)… Also I hate the cover.

What I think I’ll read next…

My December TBR is not doing too well… But I’ll be packing a suitcase (not joking) of books for my trip starting this Friday. We’re away for nearly 3 weeks (and it’s all car travel – no weight limits!) so I will definitely try to get through some more of my list. Buuuuuut… I might pack some random books too. Bring on January and The Wicked King release though!!
