Series: The Empyrean #2
Released: 7 Nov 2023

Holy moly. I understand why people were freaking out about the ending to this book now. Although I don’t think it’s as bad as the cliffhanger was for Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas. It could be because I read that book in release week, and Onyx Storm will be out next week. But still. I think Aelin had it harder. (And for 2.5 years at that.)
But yeah, this book was a lot. Covered a lot. What can I say that isn’t a spoiler? You think you’re prepared but you really aren’t? Oh, and there’s more deaths than you can poke a stick at.
OK, to be fair, I only finished Iron Flame today. And I have been on a super weird Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) binge watch lately…
But, it’s absolutely time to dive back into The Witch King by H. E. Edgmon. I am so in for more fantasy right now, and I know if I start to backslide into romance, I won’t come back. At least not until February.
And I was absolutely loving this before SVU and Iron Flame took over my everything. So, DB, my faithful buddy reading partner (who puts up with a lot from me), I’ll be aiming to smash through this before I leave for Singapore on Monday!!
Yeah, yeah. We all know the drill. And A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston has been on this list for weeks now. Or at least it feels that way for me!! Possibly because I’ve been drafting so many T5T posts…
Anyway, we’re so super close to starting this one!! And I’m very keen to get going.
As above, I fly to Singapore for work on Monday, and I have been stuffing my kindle app with more books than I can read. You know, in case I get bored on the flight. Or in meetings. Or at dinners. (I’m joking! God, I hope my boss never sees this…)
Books like Reckless by Elsie Silver or When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker, or Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. You know, books on my January 2025 TBR. So, I’ll have options at least!!

What are you reading now?

It’s so good!! I can’t believe I didn’t see any spoilers for that ending!! (Seriously, kudos to social media for not screaming about it everywhere!!)

I’m listening to Iron Flame right now! At the rate I’m going I should be able to jump right in to Onyx Storm if I feel the need after whatever cliffhanger is coming.

Yay!! I feel like half of the book community is currently in a reread (or first read for some!) of this series. It’s so good!!

It’s such a good (or bad depending on how you feel about cliffhangers ) isn’t it? I love all of political and family intrigue in these books.

Ahh, yes!! The family aspect is so hard. It got me and I had a small cry 😢
