WWW Wednesday — 13 March 2024

Hello friends!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday — 13 March 2024!!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:

  • What did you recently finish?

  • What are you currently reading?

  • And, what do you think you’ll read next?

Let’s see what I have been reading… (All images will link to Goodreads if you click on them. Potentially.)

what i finished

So, remember last week when I was all “I need to take a break from reading romance”? That did not happen. It’s almost like I just double-downed on myself. In the hopes of finding a sparkling diamond in the rough? I’m not sure where my brain gets its ideas from. Maybe I need an intervention.

However, tick for me for reading a physical backlist book!! I’m taking the win!!

This started so strong, and somewhere along near the end the plot lost me.

what i'm reading

Complete honesty, this was on my Kindle, and based on the cover, I assumed it was the sequel to Hannah Grace’s Icebreaker. That’s literally the only reason I started it. I am going to do a post soon on ‘books I thought were in a series based on the cover art’. Because there are SO MANY books at the moment that look exactly like someone else’s book.

In saying that, I think after all of my screaming about not reading any more romance books (because they are making me feel sad, not happy), college sports romances (predominantly hockey, maybe football) might be my current happy place. They are certainly making me feel a lot happier than all of the angsty, uber-dramatic, red-flags-in-trench-coats-masquerading-as-characters books that I have been reading lately.

So, Offside by Avery Keelan (not the sequel to Icebreaker) is shaping up to be pretty good. Although we do have a red-flag-trench-coat for an ex. But that’s exactly where they are supposed to be. Please keep your fingers crossed for me that this is good.

what's up next

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

Is Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson on my March TBR? No, it is not.

It is also not on any of my challenge reading lists for 2024.

It WAS on my 12 in 12 for 2022 — and to absolutely no one’s surprise, I didn’t read it. (Although, I have read TWO books from 2022’s 12 in 12… not that I am bragging about this.)

However, it IS the March book club pick for Sam’s discord group, Bookish Chaos. And the discussion on said book is happening… on 29 March (for me)?! So, I should probably start it.

I do also still want to read Coraline. And finish whichever Zodiac Academy book I have started. And maybe something else from my March TBR so that I am achieving reading goals this year. I just need to find the motivation to do it….
