WWW Wednesday – 13 January 2021
Hello book friends!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday – 13 January 2021!!
I’ve been kicking myself because I’ve barely picked up a book since Thursday. But then I checked Goodreads, and it’s all good. I somehow still finished two books this week. (Yeah, I don’t know how either…)
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:
- What did you recently finish?
- What are you currently reading?
- And, what do you think you’ll read next?
I DID IT!! Yes, I finally finished this book!! I still need to write my review, but it was ok. I might even stretch it to good. Although, I do think that my view of this book is tarred by my inability to really concentrate on any type of fantasy book in 2020. Except apparently for paranormal books, which I still managed to fly through. It’s a good thing that vampires are making a comeback.
The Left-Handed Booksellers of London by Garth Nix is a standalone novel set in England in the 1980’s. The story is a mix between urban fantasy and historical fiction. Although it PAINS me to refer to a book set in the decade I was born as Historical.
I’m also very pleased to announce that I managed to start and finish this one too. As you may remember, this graphic novel has been plaguing my TBR for too long. I first read Volume 1 in March 2019, and should have read the sequel when I first got it. In fact, Volume 2 featured in a bunch of posts I did last year, including Top 5 books I haven’t read yet in November.
Check Please Volume 2: Sticks and Scones by Ngozi Ukazu is the second and final book in the Check Please series. It’s a graphic novel that follows Bitty, an ice-hockey player for Samwell University, as he navigates love, coming out and university. This series is super adorable and a total love-fest. Plus, so much baking!!
I’m kind of reading some books at the moment. By “kind of”, I mean I read a couple of pages here and there when I remember to. But I really need to sink my teeth into them soon to tick them off!! Annoyingly, I’m over 60% for both of them!!
- Kingdom of Sea and Stone by Mara Rutherford
- Harvest of Sighs by Sierra Simone
However, I have also started The World Between Blinks by Amie Kaufman and Ryan Graudin this afternoon… so I guess the others can wait a little bit longer!!
More review books!! I have a pretty healthy back catalogue of them (embarrassingly so). Maybe The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune?!! I really am trying to get back into reading fantasy, so hopefully this will help. Also, who doesn’t love a good superhero story?!! (Hoping this will give me the motivation to finish the DC Icons series too… ? ?)
From my backlist, I really need to start on either The Land of Stories books by Chris Colfer, OR The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. I’m going to put a poll on Instagram later this month, so please vote and help me decide!!
What are you currently reading??

Enjoy your reading! I want to try out The Extraordinaries as well! And also reread the Iron Fey series, I loved that one when I read it years ago!
I’m about to start Across the Void, and listening to HP and the half-blood prince!
