WWW Wednesday – 13 April 2022

Hello bookworms!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday — 13 April 2022!!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:

  • What did you recently finish?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • And, what do you think you’ll read next?

Let’s see what I read!

6 – 12 April 2022

I am (surprisingly) somewhat sticking to my April TBR. Of the 5 books I originally picked, I’ve read two and now started another. I have also snuck in a few ebooks from my ebook buying binge in March. I do need to tick a few more books off my physical TBR this month, but we’ll see either what takes my fancy, OR I might do another roll for Bookopoly. (Or maybe I’ll even finish a TBR from a previous month!!)

what i finished

I have definitely been on a reading high this past week, as I finished FOUR books. Mini reviews will come in my monthly wrap up, but this week I finished:

  • The Recovery Agent (Gabriela Rose #1) by Janet Evanovich
  • Kamila Knows Best by Farah Heron
  • Mr Wrong Number by Lynn Painter
  • Say Yes to the Hot Mess (Love Mishaps #2) by Gracie Ruth Mitchell

what i'm reading

I could be in a mini fantasy slump after all that JLA and SJM I’ve slogged through recently. I have started Only a Monster by Vanessa Len, but I keep getting distracted by shiny new ebooks. I plan to dedicate a bit more time to it this weekend though!

I’ve also picked up Don’t Hate the Player by Alexis Nedd again — hopefully will finish it this time. And I’m back on the bandwagon with The Enchantress Returns by Chris Colfer too.

what's up next

I still have 2 books left on the TBR. After that we are FREEEEEEEE!! There are two Pondathon II sidequests up at the moment though. One is to read a book either by an author with Autism (luckily I have a list here), or a Muslim author. And the other is to read a diverse sci-fi or historical fiction book. So, let’s look at some options!!

  • Midnight Sun (Twilight #5) by Stephenie Meyer (TBR)
  • Yesterday Crumb and the Storm in a Teacup (Yesterday Crumb #1) by Andy Sagar (TBR)
  • Furthermore (Furthermore #1) by Tahereh Mafi (Muslim author)
  • Hana Khan Carries On by Uzma Jalaluddin (Muslim author)

It was!! I enjoyed it, and it was exactly what I needed. Just a light, funny romcom. It reminded me of Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne, but with a slightly different twist. 💕

I half slogged through Only a Monster too! Moved around my star rating again and again until I realised why and ended up giving it 4 – but I definitely understand if you’re having a troubling time with it too.

I’m reading Black Sun now and liking it! 12% right now so nothing much has happened – just a lot of world building as there’s a few different povs. And then I just finished the first Bridgerton book so I’ll start the second one soon.

I’m enjoying Only a Monster when I’m reading it, but I’ve been distracted with quick romances which is why I’ve only been reading a few pages here and there. I think I’m only at 70 pages now, so only just starting to get into the story.

Let's chat!
