WWW Wednesday – 12 August 2020

Hello bookworms!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday – 12 August 2020!!

This is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:

  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • And, what do you think you’ll read next?

I am super late posting this week… because I wasn’t sure if I was going to post (but then I annoyed myself sufficiently about not having a WWW Wednesday and having to explain why next week… because that’s just how I am), but here we are.

what i finished

I read this book in 24 hours (I finished it last Wednesday)… and that is all I have read this week… ?

Charlotte Holmes #4: A Question of Holmes by Brittany Cavallaro

I finally finished this series!! It made me so happy, but also it was kind of bittersweet. Like, finishing it made me happy in a really gentle way – which was slightly weird because this series has been so hectic!!

But, I must say that is was also a really nice end. Which I totally wasn’t expecting after the events of The Last of August. I thought shit was GOING DOWN.

I am in Struggle Street (it’s just down the road from Sesame Street). I’ve read 61 pages, and listened to 41 mins of the below books. I’m either about to hit my mid-year reading slump (which is late this year… rude), or I’m just really tired at the moment. I still should be ok to hit all my reading goals even if I do slump though because I’m already at 75%… Stay tuned…

Winternight #1: The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden

This book has been on my TBR for so long. And I want to read it. And it’s winter here!! It’s literally the perfect time to read it. Plus I love books with Slavic folklore. I am 61 pages in, and it has been slow going. I think my issue is that I was expecting fantasy, and it feels like historical fiction at the moment. The fantasy element may come (?) … but we’re not there yet.

Mortal Instruments #3 City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

I have also started the next book in my Shadowhunters reread, which is great news! I didn’t even bother with the pretence of taking it off my shelves – I just went straight for the audio!! ?
I have been listening to it while playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but I also keep pausing it to read something on the screen (like every time I see Pascal), and sometimes I forget to turn it back on… oops?!!

what's up next

Honestly, I’m so far away from picking up another book (unless I decide to put one aside for a moment…) that I can’t even think what to put for this section. But… it is likely that whatever I read next will probably either be a sequel of something soft and romance-y (I need gentle things to read at the moment!!).

What are you currently reading??

until next time, happy reading! Meeghan xo
