Hello bookworms!! Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday — 11 May 2022!!
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the three following questions:
- What did you recently finish?
- What are you currently reading?
- And, what do you think you’ll read next?
Let’s see what I have been reading!

4-10 May 2022

It was a pretty… light on week for reading, if I’m to be honest. I smashed through Under One Roof by Ali Hazelwood in one reading session. Not surprising as it’s the first story in the STEMinist novellas series, which follows three best friends who work in STEM fields.
Can I just pop in here that I really am LOVING the trend of writing about smart girls? Maybe I’ll write a post with all my fave books that feature women in STEM careers… 🤔
Anyway… it was good and I loved it. And it was exactly the light-hearted, fun-bantery read that I hoped it would be.
Then we had Good Girl Complex by Elle Kennedy, which is the first in the new Avalon Bay series. It’s a new adult romance set at university. It’d good, but the topics and themes in the book were heavier than I was expecting in some parts, and then lighter in others.
It was an interesting mix, but reminded me of how Emily Henry books are sometimes rom-coms, but with dark themes.
I liked this one a little less because it was a touch too tropey, and also some of the characters do some gaslighting (and I wanted to punch them).

I’m going to be honest, I am struggling to get into The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake. I can’t tell if it’s because I tried to start it while I was babysitting nephews on the weekend, so I had to read the chapter Beginning three times to understand it. (And then I felt like an idiot.) Or if it’s just not gelling for another reason.
But, I did use an audible credit last night to get the audiobook, to see if a complete immersion (reading and listening simultaneously) helps me focus better. Sometimes it works, and sometimes I get annoyed by the narrator’s voice.
But, only time will tell, so wish me luck because I really want to love this.
My May TBR is coming out tomorrow (late, I know). BUT, here are some of the books that are on it. Although, there’s no guarantee this is what I pick up tonight…
- A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder #1) by Holly Jackson
- Social Queue by Kay Kerr
- Gallant by V. E. Schwab
- Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas

I hope you enjoy Atlas Six. I was definitely underwhelmed by it but I think I’m in the minority 😃

That’s interesting. One of my friends just DNFed it, but everyone I knew who had read it before that raved about it. Maybe the minority is secretly bigger than expected?!

That is very possible. 😀
