Top 5… under 300 pages

Good morning bookworms!

If anyone is struggling on hitting books under 300 pages for their NEWTs this month, this is a great topic for you to get recommendations!! OK, so I’m going smallest to largest here…

… so of course we need to start with Fence by C. S. Pacat. Each of the singular issues 1-12 are 32 pages long. And given that I had a subscription for them (that I sorely miss!) this is how I am counting them. Also, OMFG, when is Vol 4 coming out? And how do you guys wait so long between volumes?! I was almost crying waiting about 5 weeks for each issue and it’s been MONTHS since I read any new parts!!

Oooh, I almost feel like I’m cheating with this one!! But, Rainbow Rowell wrote two short stories, one for My True Love Gave to Me (Midnights), and one for World Book Day (Kindred Spirits) and then they were both published in this adorable little, GLITTERY hardcover, called Almost Midnight. The entire thing is 132 pages, and honestly, if you’ve ever been an excited fangirl, or fallen in love with your best friend, then these are the short stories for you.

I know I talk about The Internet is a Playground (and other David Thorne books) a bit, but trust me, they are genuinely hilarious. David used to post a lot of his stories and anecdotes on his blog, but probably realised that with the amount of traffic he was getting he could probably monetise it and so he started writing books. Originally he was published through Penguin. However, through a disagreement that was published in a subsequent book, he now self-publishes his own books… If you’re still unsure, try reading one of my favourites: Justin’s floodlight.

I mean, I know at least one of the other books is over 1000 pages, but the initial one, Obernewtyn is a very respectable 245 pages. Look, I won’t bore you by screaming about this series… again… BUT, if dystopian is your thing (i.e. you enjoyed LIFEL1K3, The Hunger Games, Divergent… etc) then PLEASE just try this one.

Final place today, and coming in at a very minimal 251 pages, is the book that absolutely took my breath away, The Foxhole Court. Seriously, there is very little in the world that I wouldn’t sacrifice to protect the characters in this gripping and soul-destroying series. I cannot stress enough how there needs to be content warnings for basically everything in this book, but if you are up to it, then I beg you to read it. It’s really hard to get through, but it’s so worth it at the end.
