Top 5 Tuesday – August 2020 topics

Good morning bookworms, and Happy Tuesday!! Welcome to the Top 5 Tuesday – August 2020 topics post!!

Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, and it is my absolute privilege and pleasure to say that it is now being hosted here, at Meeghan reads!!

Yes, welcome to the new home for Top 5 Tuesday, where I will be nervously excited, probably for the first couple of months, if not forever!! Excited because I am so completely honoured that Shanah asked me if I would like to host. And nervous because I want to do her proud!! Like, immeasurably proud.

Just in case you’re curious (and you should be!!) Shanah is doing reviews only on her blog, and moving on to booktube and during this crazy, busy time in her life (this is Shanah’s booktube channel if you would like to continue to support her).

Before we move on to the topics, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Shanah for entrusting me with her baby. I totally understand that this was not an easy decision to make, and I promise to love this little corner of the internet with all that I have.

So, let’s get into the topics for August. *squeeeeeee*

August topics

So… 2020 has been a time. I tossed up doing complete disaster related topics (top 5 cataclysmic events… etc.) but decided to be kinder to people’s mental health because I didn’t want to trigger anyone in my first month!!

4 August

Top 5 books where something went wrong: Ok, so I did choose one smol disaster-related topic. BUT, I’ve worded it in a way that you can choose the level of awfulness. Was it an awkward social outing where everyone dressed up as ghostbusters except one person didn’t get the memo and came as a marshmallow? Or was it a crazy Artificial Intelligence that is kind of sentient and killed a lot of people “for the greater good”? The decision is yours! <error>

11 August

Top 5 books where something went right: And on the flip side of that coin, we’re going to head into happier territory!

18 August

Top 5 characters I would dress up as: It’s book week in Australia this week! Which means that all the kids in primary (elementary?) school get dressed up as their favourite book characters and promote reading in schools.

25 August

Top 5 characters you’d like to trade places with: I don’t have a story for this one, but it’s kind of a follow on from the previous week.

As always, please link your Top 5 Tuesday posts to one of my posts (not just my homepage, because I won’t get a notification) and I will collate all your responses and share them!!

Finally, I wanted to give the amazing Kat @ Novels and Waffles a shout out for designing me a new post featured image for Top 5 Tuesday. I wanted something that paid tribute to all the work Shanah has done with this weekly meme and was different from my normal posts. If you would like to use this image please let me know and I can check with Kat, as they are her designs.

So, I really hope you like the prompts for August!! As I mentioned before, I’m really excited and I hope you can join in with us!!

Which prompts are you looking forward to?

until next time, happy reading! Meeghan xo
