Top 5… series I need to finish

Good morning bookworms!
Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘series I need to finish’. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the super lovely Shanah over at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit her here, and join in for Top 5 Tuesday by checking out all the amazing topics that are coming up!
Gentlefriends, I must say, it’s not very often that I start a series and don’t finish it quickly. The only real hinderance here is if I choose to DNF it (a la Hush, Hush), or if I’m waiting for the next book to be published… and no one wants to hear me continue screaming *again* about books that I’m waiting to be published… So, I have a slight variation on today’s topic. This will be my top 5, series that I own, and am yet to start… because I have a LOT of those.

Strange the Dreamer – Laini Taylor

You heard it here, folks. I bought Strange when it first came out. I was set to read it immediately. I LOVED the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. And then the hype happened. People started screaming into the abyss about this book. Someone mentioned a cliffhanger, and onto the TBR pile book 1 went. Then came the announcement of Muse of Nightmares, and I got excited again. I preordered the hardcover Illumicrate editions with the sprayed metallic edges and the pretty ribbons (set of two, so they were matching). I gave away my Aussie large paperback. And they have continued to sit on my shelves unread, ever since.

The Firebird Trilogy – Claudia Gray

I don’t know what it is with me and science-fiction. It’s kind of like dystopian novels. I have to be super in the mood, and even then it’s hit and miss. Illuminae – hit. Hitchhiker’s Guide – miss. ¯\_()_/¯ And so sits this trilogy (and the Starbound trilogy, and the Unearthed duology, and Heart of Iron, and Aurora Rising) on my bookshelf, completely unread. The covers are SUPER pretty though.

The Dark Artifices – Cassandra Clare

Again, I’m not really sure why I haven’t read these yet… also how I haven’t run into spoilers on them… But, I have read The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices, and I have these… I just… haven’t started them yet. Again, part of it is because I hate cliffhangers (and I hear this one has some beauties), but also I haven’t had a chance since the final book came out!! Like, I have a lot of unread books, and these ones are MONSTERS. So, you know.. it’ll happen eventually!

A Darker Shade of Magic – V. E. Schwab

Actually, the most disgusting part of this is the number of Schwab books I own, and I’ve never read a single one of them. I’ve actually got this entire trilogy (although it was gifted by a friend), The Near Witch, the Villains duology and I think I have something else, but it’s not coming to mind right now. Also, I’ve picked up ADSOM about 5 times now, read the first chapter and then found something shinier to look at. Seriously, I feel like I know Kell’s coat inside out, plus the weird wooden elements game. Plus there’s a king and a letter. I might have read the first 3 chapters – but I’ve never gotten past there!

The Kingkiller Chronicle – Patrick Rothfuss

Probably more believable that the others, as we are still awaiting the final book in this trilogy… however, I have owned a copy of The Name of the Wind for quite a while now. I’d say about two years. And The Wise Man’s Fear I snapped up about a year ago when I found it in the matching hardcover. I have to be honest though. When I bought TNofW I thought it was a standalone, so there’s really no accounting for why I hadn’t read it by then… except that book addiction where we just buy LOTS of books and don’t read them. They are pretty editions though!

What’s a series that you haven’t finished (or started)?
