Top 5… fictional friendships

Good morning bookworms!
Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘fictional friendships’. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the super lovely Shanah over at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit her here, and join in for Top 5 Tuesday by checking out all the amazing topics we have coming up!
BEST FRIENDS are the greatest things in fiction today. I might even like them more than slow-burn, enemies to lovers tropes. (NAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!) But they are great – and we should totally see more supportive friendships in fiction because friends is what we are all here for! So, let’s get started with some super cute friendships!

Our first friendship goals go to Simon Spier and Abby Suto from Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. Even if you’ve only seen the movie (Love, Simon) you’ll know that Abby and Simon have a pretty cute friendship. Mostly when he’s not screwing her over. But they get past that and end up stronger than ever!

Second up, I’d like to direct your attention to Rose and Lissa from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. I know I complain about Lissa because she’s annoying and I think Rose is definitely the better half of their partnership. But Rose and Lissa are dedicated to each other, and do countless illegal things to help the other throughout the series.

Third on my list is Morrigan and Hawthorne from Jessica Townsend’s Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow. I LOVE how their relationship just starts because Hawthorne and Mog meet and then they are best of friends. Yep, I don’t like insta-love, but I do love insta-BFFs in 11 year olds! Also, I love how Hawthorne is so mischievous and Mog is just along for the ride with him!

Next up, we have Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series. These two old biddies (OMG don’t tell them I called them that) have been friends since the dawn of time. Or the dawn of the Ramtops, whichever came first. They use each other as a sounding board, confidant and coven; and although Esme can’t abide Gytha once she starts drinking (and invariably singing the Hedgehog song), there’s also nothing they wouldn’t do for the other.

Finally, we have my OTP of BFFs. Karou and Zuzana from Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. They are the most supportive and sweetest (although neither of them would thank me for using that word) of friends. They would do anything for the other, including but not limited to taking a bullet for each other, providing means of magic to beguile a boy, and cross other worlds to ensure their BFF is safe. They will forever be my fave BFFs (and possibly characters).

Until next time, happy reading ??
