How’s that saying go… “You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover”? I don’t know about you guys, but I do that. All. The. Time! So, let’s talk about some cover love for books that have been released this year!

Darkdawn – Jay Kristoff

Oh yeah, we aren’t getting out mentioning this series here, gentlefriends! I might be finished reading it, but seriously, I can’t go past these covers, and neither should you!
The UK covers for this series were designed by one Kerby Rosanes and I am in love with the details of the design, as they show you elements of the story within the larger image. Plus you get the three suns of Aa across the three novels!

The Merciful Crow – Margaret Owen

True to form, I have absolutely zero idea what this book is about… but do I want to read it based on the cover? You can absolutely bet on it!
If my memory serves (and let’s be honest, it’s pretty bad at the best of times), this was in the FairyLoot box just last month and I am intrigued! It’s got a darkness about it without relying too heavily on black (in fact it’s only used as shadow) and I love the flock of birds over head (although I’m sure it’s not Kal’s favourite feature).

Starfell: Willow Moss and the Last Days – Dominique Valente

This absolutely DELIGHTFUL mix of bright colours and dark contrast make this middle grade book one of my faves for the year. I mean, it doesn’t hurt that the gold on my copy is metallic and shiny as well!
Hailed to be a new Harry Potter (I cannot confirm, as *gasp* I haven’t read it yet), the synopsis looks pretty cute too.

The Sky Weaver – Kristen Ciccarelli

I mean, I’m trying not to let me anticipated reads for this year influence my decision… but it’s just so hard because I am loving the cover for this one in particular! A little bit dark, a little bit light, and a touch of metallic has me screaming “GIMMMEEE!!” at the top of my lungs.
I am also borderline delirious waiting for my copy to come in the post… but still! I am drowning in this girl’s eyes. Also her sword hilt. (It’s still #stabtempber, right?!)

Wayward Son – Rainbow Rowell

I’m not even sorry any more. You could put a roll of toilet paper in front of me, and if it had Baz’s face on it, I’d be wallpapering my room with it (probably much to my husband’s dismay…). Suffice to say, this one absolutely makes the list.
Just quietly, I have ordered the Waterstones edition where the sprayed pages match Baz’s suit… because even though I look horrid in floral, he sure as hell doesn’t.

What’s your favourite book cover of 2019?
Is there a certain style you like?
