Top 5… books you read as an ARC

Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘books I read as an ARC’. ARC’s are Advanced Reader Copies (but of course you knew that)! Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the super lovely Shanah over at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit her here, and join in for Top 5 Tuesday by checking out all the amazing topics we have coming up!

This is going to be a very short top 5 for me, because I have only read two ARCs (it’s hard to get physical copies in Australia, and I don’t read ebooks very often).

Godsgrave

Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff is a) book two of the Nevernight Chronicle, b) one of the best books I have ever read, and c) my absolute favourite ARC I’ve ever gotten my grubby little mitts on. I won it in a giveaway that Jay was running, and I will always treasure my copy of this book. ALWAYS. Jay also signed it and I got to read it a whole month before it was released. It will also hold a special place in my heart for other reasons that I can’t talk about now, else I will likely cry lots. Jay is a brilliant Aussie author whom I happen to live in the same city as.

Stiletto

Stiletto by Daniel O’Malley is a) book two in the Checquy Files, b) a seriously good follow up to another brilliant first book, and c) another Aussie author. Funnily enough, I grew up in the city that Dan lives in, and left it to move to the city Jay lives in. Not that I moved there for that reason — I didn’t even know who Jay Kristoff was when I moved in 2014. If you are after hugely entertaining book: part thrilling spy-type drama; part urban fantasy; all mutant vs mutant, then this is the series you have been waiting for, friend. Read The Rook first, and then come read this one. Also, a stiletto is not a shoe, but a long, thin blade with a pointy end. Just in case you were wondering!

Happy reading!
