Top 5… books you read as an ARC
Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘books I read as an ARC’. ARC’s are Advanced Reader Copies (but of course you knew that)! Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the super lovely Shanah over at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit her here, and join in for Top 5 Tuesday by checking out all the amazing topics we have coming up!
This is going to be a very short top 5 for me, because I have only read two ARCs (it’s hard to get physical copies in Australia, and I don’t read ebooks very often).
Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff is a) book two of the Nevernight Chronicle, b) one of the best books I have ever read, and c) my absolute favourite ARC I’ve ever gotten my grubby little mitts on. I won it in a giveaway that Jay was running, and I will always treasure my copy of this book. ALWAYS. Jay also signed it and I got to read it a whole month before it was released. It will also hold a special place in my heart for other reasons that I can’t talk about now, else I will likely cry lots. Jay is a brilliant Aussie author whom I happen to live in the same city as.
Stiletto by Daniel O’Malley is a) book two in the Checquy Files, b) a seriously good follow up to another brilliant first book, and c) another Aussie author. Funnily enough, I grew up in the city that Dan lives in, and left it to move to the city Jay lives in. Not that I moved there for that reason — I didn’t even know who Jay Kristoff was when I moved in 2014. If you are after hugely entertaining book: part thrilling spy-type drama; part urban fantasy; all mutant vs mutant, then this is the series you have been waiting for, friend. Read The Rook first, and then come read this one. Also, a stiletto is not a shoe, but a long, thin blade with a pointy end. Just in case you were wondering!
Haven’t read these books, but I want to!
They’re both great series!
I really need to read Stiletto! I e joyed The Rook quite a while ago… And then just kind of got lost! Lol!
It’s good, maybe not as good as The Rook was though.
Godsgrave as an ARC! That’s pretty phenomenal.
Definitely a prized possession!!
Beware Of The Reader
You don’t get physical ARCs in Australia either? I thought you would have some Australian based publishing house but I guess I was wrong….In Belgium it’s impossible (except for Atticus as the author has been extra lovely!!!).
The only physical ARCs I’ve gotten are from Australian authors. The postage to send them here is VERY expensive.
