Top 5… books that made me laugh
Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘books that made me laugh’. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the super lovely Shanah over at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit her here, and join in for Top 5 Tuesday by checking out all the amazing topics we have coming up!
Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson, aka The Bloggess, is a hilarious, but also very serious memoir of Jenny’s life – told in a very amusing way. I found this because I follow Jenny’s blog, and I just genuinely think she’s possibly the funniest person alive. (This is a link to my fave blog post!)
The Discworld series by Terry Pratchett is an absolute MUST for this list. I love it, I’ve loved it since I was 16, and I will likely continue to love it for the remainder of my life. In case you’ve missed it, Nicole from The Bookworm Drinketh is hosting a readalong of all 41 books (we’ll be doing it for YEARS, trust me) and my first two reviews are up (The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic). I’m also REALLY excited for Equal Rites this month!!
Anything and everything by David Thorne. That’s not an actual book, I know, so let’s start with his first one: The Internet is a Playground. Now, if you don’t know who David Thorne is, perhaps cast yourself back to an incident that did the rounds on the net a few years ago… there was a man who tried to pay a phone bill (it might have been an electricity bill) with a drawing of a spider. THAT is David Thorne. (Click through for that blog post.)
Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli is sweet, poignant AND funny. I know I use this book a lot for prompts, but I just genuinely love it that much!
Royals by Rachel Hawkins had some very funny moments, definitely Laugh Out Loud worthy. I’m not sure if it is top 5 material, but it is definitely one of the funniest books I have read this year.
So there you have it, five VERY funny books! Until next time, happy reading ☺️?

DAVID THORNE! My favourite part was when he asked for them to return the spider drawing because it was his only copy. Hilarious!

I’m like the worst reader in the world, lol, because I still need to read Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda. I saw the movie, but I have a feeling the book is so much better.

The book is waaaaaay better, it was still a good adaptation!!

The cover for Let’s pretend This Never Happened …. SO. DANG. HILARIOUS. It’s a mouse…but he’s dressed up in a cape! Anyways, for some reason that I can’t comprehend I find that funny? Anyways, these are some great choices 😀

The mouse has a name, it’s Hamlet von Schnitzel, and she wrote a whole thing about it. It’s super cute!! You know, for a taxidermied mouse in an outfit.

I need to read that Lawson book! Her books have so darn cute covers!!

And they’re all named. The mouse is Hamlet von Schnitzel, and the raccoon is Rory. ?
