Top 5 books that have been on my TBR since forever
Hello bookworms!! Welcome to Top 5 Tuesday!! This week’s topic is top 5 books that have been on my TBR since forever. Last week I was ruing the day when I wrote these prompts… and I still wish I had been nicer to us. Past Meeghan was sad, but hopefully redemption is in my future!! (Just likely that it’s not this week or next week either!!)
Β
Every year I make a new TBR, removing all the books that I read the previous year… and making sure all the new books I bought are on this one. It can be exhausting… but it’s also a great way to make sure I know all my unread books. Unfortunately, it’s also a reminder of all the books that I still haven’t read too…
Β
If you missed the January-March 2022 topics please see this link. Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm, and is now being hosted here @ Meeghan reads.

Finnikin of the Rock β Melina Marchetta
Finnikin of the Rock and his guardian, Sir Topher, have not been home to their beloved Lumatere for ten years. Not since the dark days when the royal family was murdered and the kingdom put under a terrible curse. But then Finnikin is summoned to meet Evanjalin, a young woman with an incredible claim: the heir to the throne of Lumatere, Prince Balthazar, is alive.
Β
Evanjalin is determined to return home and she is the only one who can lead them to the heir. As they journey together, Finnikin is affected by her arrogance… and her hope. He begins to believe he will see his childhood friend, Prince Balthazar, again. And that their cursed people will be able to enter Lumatere and be reunited with those trapped inside. He even believes he will find his imprisoned father.
Β
But Evanjalin is not what she seems. And the truth will test not only Finnikin’s faith in her… but in himself.
The Falconer β Elizabeth May
She’s a stunner.
Edinburgh, 1844. Eighteen-year-old Lady Aileana Kameron, the only daughter of the Marquess of Douglas, has everything a girl could dream of: brains, charm, wealth, a title β and drop-dead beauty.
Β
She’s a liar.
But Aileana onlyΒ looksΒ the part of an aristocratic young lady. she’s leading a double life: She has a rare ability to sense theΒ sΓ¬thΓcheanβthe faery race obsessed with slaughtering humans β and, with the aid of a mysterious mentor, has spent the year since her mother died learning how to kill them.
Β
She’s a murderer.
Now Aileana is dedicated to slaying the fae before they take innocent lives. With her knack for inventing ingenious tools and weapons β from flying machines to detonators to lightning pistols β ruthless Aileana has one goal: Destroy the faery who destroyed her mother.
Β
She’s a Falconer.
The last in a line of female warriors born with a gift for hunting and killing the fae, Aileana is the sole hope of preventing a powerful faery population from massacring all of humanity. Suddenly, her quest is a lot more complicated. She still longs to avenge her mother’s murder β but she’ll have to save the world first.
Evernight β Claudia Gray
Bianca wants to escape.
Β
She’s been uprooted from her small hometown and enrolled at Evernight Academy, an eerie Gothic boarding school where the students are somehow too perfect: smart, sleek, and almost predatory. Bianca knows she doesn’t fit in.
Β
Then she meets Lucas. He’s not the “Evernight type” either, and he likes it that way. Lucas ignores the rules, stands up to the snobs, and warns Bianca to be careful β even when it comes to caring about him.
Β
“I couldn’t stand it if they took it out on you,”Β he tells Bianca,Β “and eventually they would.”
Β
But the connection between Bianca and Lucas can’t be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart… and to make Bianca question everything she’s ever believed.
Temeraire β Naomi Novik
Captain Will Laurence has been at sea since he was just twelve years old; finding a warmer berth in Nelson’s navy than any he enjoyed as the youngest, least important son of Lord Allendale.
Β
Rising on merit to captain his own vessel, Laurence has earned himself a beautiful fiancΓ©e, society’s esteem and a golden future. But the war is not going well. It seems Britain can only wait as Napoleon plans to overrun her shores.
A Darkness at Sethanon β Raymond E. Feist
Here be dragons and sorcery, swordplay, quests, pursuits, intrigues, stratagems, journeys to the darkest realms of the dead and titanic battles between the forces of good and darkest evil.
Β
The battle may be over, but war is comingβ¦
Β
The Kingdom forces may have won the first conflict but the enemy has a strong grip on Midkemia and invasion now seems inevitable.
Β
Arutha travels north to confront the Dark Elves, but without help, Pug knows that Arutha’s forces face slaughter. With Tomas he must scour the world β and beyond β to find the one person with enough power to give them a chance.
Β
If they fail, Midkemia will be the first of many worlds to fall to a madman with the power to dominate death itselfβ¦

The Temeraire books are brilliant and you definitely need to read A Darkness at Sethanon to finish the Magician Trilogy. It’s a great conclusion. My Top 5 this week are here https://witchyreading.wordpress.com/2022/02/08/top-5-tuesday-books-that-have-been-on-my-tbr-since-forever/
meeghan
I definitely need to read all of them!! π
evelynreads1
I also have not read any of these! I do want to pick up something by Raymond E Feist as well though!
meeghan
Oooh, start with Magician. It’s a big book, but you can read it as a standalone or the start of the Riftwar Saga. π
Kaya @ afictionalbookworm
Ooh, I love Finnikin of the Rock! Hope you enjoy all of theseπ

I’ve had so many people tell me that the Lumatere Chronicles are amazing. I grew up reading Marchetta’s contemporary novels. I don’t know why I haven’t read these yet!!
Here-Be-Dragons
I still need to read Temeraire too, but I hadnβt heard about The Falconer before and I am intrigued! Time to add to the TBR π Awesome post!
meeghan
It’s a trilogy, and the covers are all beautiful. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it β and from people I trust no less. I just… haven’t read them yet?! π
Here-Be-Dragons
There are too many books to read and not enough reading hours in a day! π
meeghan
Should we… just quit our jobs and read all day?? π

I remember reading the Evernight series early high school! Those types of books definitely kicked off my start of reading series instead of stand alones. Also, read the Falconer ages ago and remember enjoying but it’s definitely a book I want to reread as I have the rest of the series π
meeghan
Yay!! Iβm so glad you enjoyed them all!! Iβve literally had Evernight for so many yearsβ¦ just, never got back around to it. π
suzannarivera
Same I feel like that’s the case for majority of the books on my shelves π
Kristina
Hopefully youβll eventually get to them, and enjoy them!!
The only one Iβve ever seen around is the falconer π
meeghan
Yeah, The Falconer does the rounds on Instagram every so often π
