Top 5… books set in space
Good morning bookworms!
Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘books set in space’. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the super lovely Shanah over at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit her here, and join in for Top 5 Tuesday by checking out all the amazing topics we have coming up!
So, weird as this might be, I don’t really read a lot of science fiction… and mostly what I do read I haven’t super enjoyed. With the exception of like (hopefully) 5 books. So, I may not get to an entire five with this one, but we shall see!! (If I can’t get 5 books, I may switch to my TBR…)
Let’s start with the best today! And, of course, the best (for me) goes to Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff with The Illuminae Files. If I had to pick only one, it would be Gemina. That book gave me so many feels. However, I vastly enjoyed Illuminae and Obsidio as well. Like, A LOT. This is the series that has redeemed sci-fi for me.
Umm… that would appear to be it actually. I have read others… I just… didn’t love them. SO… I’m actually going to pretend the above part is a totally separate list, and we’ll do a top 5 books set in space on my TBR instead! YAY!!!
Aurora Rising by (surprise!) Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff! (I know, I’m super predictable… sorry!)
Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston
The Starbound Trilogy by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
The Unearthed Duology by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Skyward by Brandon Sanderson
So, I hope that kind of fills the requirement for this week!!! There is a LOT of love for Amie Kaufman here, and I love that. She’s definitely one of the more underrated authors I have seen around. Love you Amie!!
Until next time, happy reading 😊📚

OMG The space cat!! I love that thing – it’s adorable! And your list is great – we have similar tastes in space books 🙂 I can’t wait for Aurora Rising!

Fantastic choices Meeghan! I haven’t read the Illuminae Files yet (but own them) but I have pre ordered Aurora Rising and the one from Brandon Sanderson seems really good!

First of all, I adore the gif with the cat – that’s just like the cutest thing ever.
I haven’t read any of your picks yet, but they sound really interesting and I love the covers!

Gemina is legit my favorite of the Illuminae trilogy, but all those books are a freaking masterpiece. Have you read Mirage by Somaiya Daud? It’s more of a fantasy set in space and really wonderful!

I haven’t, but it is on my super long TBR. I didn’t know it was set in space!
Time for tales and tea
That space cat is so funny 😂 The Illuminae Files is one of my favourite series! Those books are brilliant. All the other books on this list, are also on my TBR-list. I’m especially looking forward to Aurora Rising!

Same!!! Now I just need to figure out how I can get a copy of the Illuminae prequel as part of the preorder for AR without having to preorder ANOTHER copy. 🤔
