Top 5 books on my holiday wishlist
Hello bookworms!! Happy Tuesday!! Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is top 5 books on my holiday wishlist.
Yes, this week we are sharing all the books that we wish someone would gift us this holiday season, or perhaps on your next birthday. Or whatever the next gifting thing in your life is. Feel free to share your post with your loved ones. (You’re welcome in advance.)
Last year I did a similar post, but it was sort of chaotic because I did the whole “well if Santa is bringing it, then these are all the outrageous things I would wish for”. This year I plan to do a wishlist that is achievable. But also, I know my posts get out of hand when I write them. So, no promises!!
If you missed the December topics post, please click here!! Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm, and is now being hosted here.
top 5 books on my holiday wishlist
Ever the Hunted – Erin Summerill
OK, so confession time: I have been looking for the hardcover of this book for ages. Is finding this achievable? Who knows. (Probably not because I want a new copy – or at least a mint condition one.) I have the hardcovers of the rest of this series (yes, I count Once a King as part of this), and it pains me that I only have a paperback of this book. Especially because I’ve had it on my wishlist for literal years. YEARS. And now it’s unavailable.
Fantastic Creatures in Mythology and Folklore – Juliette Wood
I have wanted this book since it came out in 2018. But it’s super expensive and I just haven’t prioritised it because it’s like a mythology textbook. You know, as opposed to a story. But I’ve seen so many awesome reviews of it, so it’s staying on my wishlist until I eventually get it. And while I would absolutely treasure the hardcover, it’s also $110 AUD, which is insane for a book. So I would be happy with the paperback (which is still super expensive at $50 AUD). But I have also semi convinced myself that this book would be an investment… of research for when I finally write that middle grade fantasy series.
History is All You Left Me – Adam Silvera
Am I slowly collecting all of Silvera’s books in hardcover? Yes, yes I am. Have I read them yet? Well… I have read They Both Die at the End. And What If It’s Us which he co-authored with Becky Albertalli. But, no. I haven’t read More Happy Than Not. And I don’t plan on reading Infinity Son anytime soon. But… also, I really want a copy of this book!! And I can’t even explain why because I have zero idea what it is about. I just really enjoy his mournfully depressing, and semi-soul crushing stories. Yes, I know that I am an odd duck.
Swamp Thing – Maggie Stiefvater
You didn’t really think I would get through a wishlist without putting a Maggie Stiefvater book on here, did you?? Yes, there is a book by my fave author out there that I don’t own yet. It’s ludicrous, isn’t it. To be fair though, I am planning on buying a copy of this (and the Scorpio Sea tarot) when international shipping doesn’t cost me half a kidney. Why? Because I plan to buy signed copies. Which means I can’t just get them from any old retailer. Fingers crossed it will happen soon. But also fingers crossed that Australia can stay relatively COVID free, so maybe I’m not wishing for extra international flights!! (And therefore cheaper shipping.)
Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow – Jessica Towsend
OK, so you’re probably confused by this one, especially if you know that I actually own three copies of this book already. However, on my impossible wishlist is a UK hardcover edition of Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend. And not just any UK hardcover, but a signed, numbered (preferably number 72), Goldsboro first edition. This is because I have the signed, numbered (72), Goldsboro first editions of Wundersmith and Hollowpox, and gosh darn, I want to have the entire matching set. I don’t think this is unreasonable!! But there are only 250 of these released for each book (and the author gets number 1) and when I see copies go up for sale, they sit around the $400 AUD mark. And I can’t quite justify that yet.
Keep your fingers crossed that Santa sees this wishlist!!
Please don’t forget to link to one of my posts (not my home page), and I will link back to all of your posts as soon as I can!! (Because I know it’s Tuesday here, but it’s probably still Monday elsewhere…)

Swamp Thing looks super fun! I know absolutely nothing about it, other than there’s a DC tv series. That and I guess he lives in the swamp? That Mythology and Folklore textbooks looks AMAZING. I think you should get it for you as a treat ?
COME ON, SANTA ????

Oh my gosh, that’s SO MUCH for that mythology book, but now I want it too. ? I used to just burn through books like that as a kid, and they’re still fun to this day if you can find one that’s REALLY loaded with content!
I hope you got at least a couple of these for the holidays!
