Top 5… books on my current TBR
Good morning bookworms!
Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘books on my current TBR (books I’m excited to read right now)’! Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the super lovely Shanah over at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit her here, and join in for Top 5 Tuesday by checking out all the amazing topics that are coming up!
So… I threw out my TBR this month (obvs I should have checked this month’s topics first…) so I’m gonna tell you the top 5 books that I want to read this month that will happen regardless of any TBR!!
Call Down the Hawk – Maggie Stiefvater
I mean, as if this book wasn’t going to make this list. I got my notification that OwlCrate had posted my copy, and I thought, “while I wait, maybe I’ll just grab a copy from a bookstore here!” Bad idea. This book doesn’t come out until 28 November in Australia and I anticipate my OC copy will be here and read by then!
For those that don’t know anything about this new series, Maggie is writing a new series that takes place after the events of The Raven Cycle, but won’t necessarily follow all the original main characters. But Ronan, Declan and Adam will be in it, so I don’t care about the others. (Sorry, not sorry, Gansey and Blue!)
Into the Crooked Place – Alexandra Christo
I actually have no idea what this book is about (classic Meeghan!) but it’s Alexandra Christo’s second book, it might have monsters, and I am here for it. In case you can’t remember last week’s prompt, I had To Kill A Kingdom, Christo’s debut, on my list of creepy atmosphere books, and I expect nothing less from this one.
This book will be in my October haul post (when that comes) as it arrived about a week or so ago. I’m just trying to get through a couple more ARC’s before I delve into what I am sure will be a delightfully creepy fantasy novel!
Winterwood – Shea Ernshaw
Speaking of authors who made last week’s list (and I’m currently 3 for 3… absolutely unintentionally!) I cannot wait for my pre-order copy of Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw to arrive this week!! I will be ripping it from my poor postman’s hands as soon as I possibly can.
I do know a little bit more about this one – it’s got magical forests, a witch, a missing boy, and a seriously chilly winter vibe. This is one of my last anticipated reads for the year (I mean, I guess this whole list is), so I am super keen to read it!!
Serpent and Dove – Shelby Mahurin
I feel like I might be one of the last people on the planet to read this one, as it seems to be everywhere at the moment!! However, my copy finally came in mid-October so I haven’t been able to start it yet.
This one is about witches and witch hunters, an arranged marriage that results in an enemies to lovers romance, and you know, that single line sold me completely. This one is probably the only one that wasn’t on my anticipated reads list by the middle of the year, so welcome book-friend, I think it’s time we got to know each other!
The Queen of Nothing – Holly Black
Total honesty, I have about 4 copies of this book coming this month, plus I will buy the Aussie giant paperback on release because I need matching sets… but if this book disappoints me like Darkdawn I might just burn the world to the ground. Although, Holly didn’t promise death and destruction like Jay did, and honestly I’d prefer a sappy ending to this one, so keep your fingers crossed for me friends!
In case you’ve been living under a rock since January last year, this is the final book in The Folk of the Air trilogy, comprising of The Cruel Prince, The Wicked King, and now The Queen of Nothing.
What are you dying to read this month?!

I am so so so so so excited for this book. And I’m going to hate that the next one is at least a year away!!

I know!! I feel like we’ve all been waiting a thousand years and now that it’s here I’m just… *screaming quietly into the abyss*

Samee!

Sorry… that was more depressing than it meant to be. I’m currently writing a wrap-up post and I went back to my top 10 anticipated 5 star reads… and none of the ones that I have read did I rate 5 stars… which makes me so sad!!
evelynreads1
Hahhaha, that’s okay! I can totally see why you want some 6 stars!
evelynreads1
Let’s just skip 5 and go for 6 haha ?

6 sounds amazing!!! ??

I also haven’t yet read Serpent and Dove! It’s been sitting on my shelf and staring at me accusingly, though…

I JUST PICKED IT UP TO START TONIGHT!!!! ?
Rukky @ Eternity Books
I’ve seen Serpent and Dove everywhere as well, and I’m also excited for it. And The Queen of Nothing, FINALLY. Finally it’s November! Problem is, I’ll probably not be able to read it till December, but I’m still so so so excited for it!! I’m also excited to start The Scorpio Races soon and hopefully read more of Stiefvater’s books ❤
Meeghan reads
OOOOOOOHHH!! The Scorpio Races is the best!! I reread it back in June because that’s our ‘November weather’. I hope you love it!! ??

I am also anticipating all of these! ? I can’t believe we’re being blessed with CDTH, Queen of Nothing, AND Winterwood this month. We’re all gonna perish. I also just bought Serpent & Dove this weekend, so we can be the last two people together, haha!
Meeghan reads
Excellent!! I started reading S&D last night, but then I checked my parcel status for CDTH and it’s due today… so now I’m conflicted!! ?

I just came back from a hiatus and of course had to check your blog right away. I always get a new book to add on my TBR from your post and knowing that today’s Tuesday, I know you’ll have a T5T. I need to add Serpent and Dove on my TBR. 🙂 🙂
By the way, seriously, 4 copies of The Queen of Nothing? WOW!!! I only have the first book and read it. I intentionally didn’t buy the second book to avoid temptation. I didn’t want to read it and then wait for the final book. I’m thinking I will read the whole series in one go next month. 🙂
Meeghan reads
I think it’s the anticipation that made me buy so many copies!! ??

Also, Lili, YOU ARE THE SWEETEST!!! ?????

Call Down the hawk and Queen of Nothing are on my list too Meeghan!!!

I just don’t want to wait any longer!!!!
Meaghan @ Words Gremlin
Oh man, I’m waiting on Winterwood too! I loved TWD and I really hope Winterwood is just as atmospheric!
Meeghan reads
Yes!!! I have very high hopes for it too!! ??
Veronika @ Wordy and Whimsical
I’m SO WORRIED about Queen of Nothing – I’m pretty sure I’m in the minority here, but really hate Cardan, and I hope he suffers, haha. If the romance continues/stars up again I’m going to be sooo pissed off. Serpent & the Dove I’m incredibly excited for!
Meeghan reads
Oh hon, I think you are in the minority for that!! Everyone else I know wants them to live happily ever after. I’d be happy if they don’t stab each other in vital organs.
Serpent and Dove is better than anything I was expecting (but I do get nervous with hyped books)!!
