Top 5 books on my 2024 wishlist

Hello friends!! Welcome to Top 5 Tuesday!! This week’s topic is top 5 books on my 2024 wishlist!!

Yes, it is my birthday week (and also Sam @ Fictionally Sam‘s birthday week!! Go say hi!!), so it’s time to update the wishlist. You know, in case my mother reads this. (Note: she does not, thank goodness, and also she refuses to buy me books.) But, you know, maybe someone will get YOU something off your list.

I must admit, my wishlist is actually pretty small at the moment… I’m not entirely convinced I’ll even get a top 5 out of it… But that’s ok too!! You know, because some weeks I end up with a top 12, so this will counterbalance me… Allegedly.

The April to June 2024 topics are out now!! Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm, and is now being hosted here @ Meeghan reads.

Let’s look at the top 5 books on my 2024 wishlist.

Divine Rivals — Rebecca Ross (FairyLoot edition)

Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross - FairyLoot edition

NOTE: Some months, for whatever reason, I skip my bookish subscriptions. And, while I absolutely cannot fathom why I did it now, I managed to skip the month that FairyLoot did its stunning Divine Rivals edition. I mean, I also skipped the Emily Wilde month, which was ludicrous since it was an anticipated release… but whatever. I am now resolved to never skip again. And I shall continue to fruitlessly search FB Marketplace to find a copy for less than $300…

When two young rival journalists find love through a magical connection, they must face the depths of hell, in a war among gods, to seal their fate forever.

After centuries of sleep, the gods are warring again. But eighteen-year-old Iris Winnow just wants to hold her family together. Her mother is suffering from addiction and her brother is missing from the front lines. Her best bet is to win the columnist promotion at the Oath Gazette.

To combat her worries, Iris writes letters to her brother and slips them beneath her wardrobe door, where they vanish ― into the hands of Roman Kitt, her cold and handsome rival at the paper. When he anonymously writes Iris back, the two of them forge a connection that will follow Iris all the way to the front lines of battle: for her brother, the fate of mankind, and love.

Lore: Olympus Volume Six — Rachel Smythe

NOTE: To be fair, I will probably just go buy a copy of this on the weekend, but it’s currently all over my instagram feed and I want to read it now…

Chaos reigns in Olympus as Zeus publicly declares Persephone a traitor and issues a warrant for her arrest. But Hades defies his brother’s decree, sheltering Persephone in the Underworld—and as the pair spend more time together, they are able to speak openly about their pasts. The goddess of spring admits the truth behind the bloody secret that led to Zeus’s ire, and the king of the Underworld shares the trauma he suffered at the hands of his power-hungry father, Kronos.

But as Hades and Persephone’s relationship grows stronger, others begin to fall apart. The bond between Hades and Zeus is stretched to its limit, threatening to fracture the peace between their realms. Persephone and Artemis’s friendship hangs by a thread as the goddess of the hunt slowly uncovers the vile truth about her twin, Apollo. A line is being drawn in the heavens, putting everyone’s loyalties into question as all the gods are forced to choose sides.

And as the cracks in the foundation of the pantheon spread, something darker and more earth-shattering might soon be released…

Lore Olympus Vol 6 by Rachel Smythe

Silverborn: The Mystery of Morrigan Crow — Jessica Townsend

Silverborn The Mystery of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

NOTE: No, this book is STILL not out yet. And if it gets delayed again, you will be able to hear me scream from where ever in the world you are. Because I will unjustifiably upset. OK, maybe a teensy bit justified. But mostly because I am very impatiently waiting for this book to arrive in my hot little hands. I mean, you’d like I might even get an early copy for my birthday, but alas, no dice. I am now eagerly awaiting 10 September…

Morrigan Crow is ready for a new adventure. In Silverborn: The Mystery of Morrigan Crow, we will travel to places in Nevermoor that we’ve never seen, we’ll meet people from Morrigan’s past who will be very important in untangling the mystery of who she is … as she sides with someone very dangerous to learn more of the Wundrous Arts.

A Novel Love Story — Ashley Poston (FairyLoot edition)

NOTE: To be completely fair, this book does not exist yet. But since I have the FairyLoot editions of The Dead Romantics and The Seven Year Slip, I might just die if FairyLoot don’t do a version of A Novel Love Story as well. But, I’m keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

Eileen Merriweather loves to get lost in a good happily-ever-after. The fictional kind, anyway. Because at least imaginary men don’t leave you at the altar. She feels safe in a book. At home. Which might be why she’s so set on going to her annual book club retreat this year she needs good friends, cheap wine, and grand romantic gestures no matter what.

But when her car unexpectedly breaks down on the way, she finds herself stranded in a quaint town that feels like it’s right out of a novel…

Because it is.

This place can’t be real, and yet… she’s here, in Eloraton. The town of her favorite romance series. Where the candy store’s honey taffy is always sweet, the local bar’s burgers are always a little burnt, and rain always comes in the afternoon. It feels like home. It’s perfect and perfectly frozen, trapped in the late author’s last unfinished story.

Elsy is sure that’s why she must be here: to help bring the town to its storybook ending.

Except there is a character in Eloraton that she can’t place a grumpy bookstore owner with mint-green eyes, an irritatingly sexy mouth and impeccable taste in novels. And he does not want her finishing this book.

Which is a problem because Elsy is beginning to think the town’s happily-ever-after might just be intertwined with her own.

Silverborn had an Aussie release date for June, and I just don’t want to wait any more 😭😭

I sympathise as my mother never buys me books either 😃Even though I get my love of reading from her, she has never quite understood why I need to buy so many. I hope that you manage to get hold of at least some of these soon especially the fairyloot ones which are gorgeous.

Let's chat!
