Top 5… books I didn’t get to in 2018
Good morning bookworms!
Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘top 5 books I didn’t get to in 2018’. Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by the super lovely Shanah over at the Bionic Bookworm. You can visit her here, and join in for Top 5 Tuesday by checking out all the amazing topics we have coming up!
Well, I definitely didn’t get to everything that I had planned on reading this year. There is a (large) number of books that are still sitting on my TBR that I was going to get to… but then other books eclipsed them! There was also my most anticipated read for this year which was delayed BY A YEAR, so I’ll get to Darkdawn next year. (Yes, that’s my sneaky way of making this list a top 6 this week…)
So, books I definitely meant to read this year, but didn’t get to…
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. This book has been on my TBR for years. My biggest issue with it at the moment is that I have left it for so long now, that I feel like it’s now just too late. Also, there’s so much hype for this book – what if I hate it? However, it’s on my list for 2019… *ahem* (Not like the last 7 years though, I mean, I’ll probably read it next year…)
Number two is… Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. I mean, I could still get to it! But, it’s been on my TBR for the last three months, so don’t hold your breath. Although, I absolutely will read this one – Daughter of Smoke and Bone was my fave read of 2016 and I love Laini’s writing… but I also know how much the story is going to rip my soul out of my chest cavity because it’s what Laini is good at. *deep breaths* *try not to cry in anticipation*
Next up on my ‘books I meant to read this year’ is Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff. This was on my TBR in May and June, and I did read the first 30%, and it was great! And then I had a reading slump, and the whole thing fell over. But, I definitely want to read this one next year, and it’s on my backlist list.
I also wanted to read the Dark Artifices before Queen of Air and Darkness arrived… but alas, that didn’t happen either. Nonetheless, I will be packing Lady Midnight and co by Cassandra Clare for my summer break with the family, so I hope to get to these in January!
Finally, I was planning on reading Caraval by Stephanie Garber just before Legendary came out! I had it on my TBR in April and May, but then I found out it was a trilogy (as opposed to the duology I thought it was), so I said farewell to that idea because CLIFFHANGERS. I hate them. Actually, I love them, but they kill me. So, same thing… This one is now on the backburner until Finale is released!
So… I should probably read these in 2019… because if I’m posting these again next year then there’s something wrong!!
Happy reading ??

It’s NEVER too late to read The Night Circus so I truly hope you get to it in 2019. And no worries if you hate it because a lot of people do lol! I personally loved it, but I understand that it was an incredibly atmospheric and descriptive read and that doesn’t work for everybody! Happy reading for the rest of 2018!

ahhh these are totally on my TBR–but I do say reading Strange the Dreamer is such a luscious experience you’re so lucky to be able to read it for the first time again!

That’s part of the reason I think I’ve left it so long!! Laini is such a magical writer!!

It is never too late to read a book. Also, Strange the Dreamer is the only book I have read from this list and I was pleasantly surprised by the audiobook.

That’s awesome!! I have 2 physical copies of the book though, so I should definitely read one of them!!

Caraval and Strange the Dreamer should be on my list too. 🙂 Also I encourage you to read Night Circus and I’m excited to hear your thoughts about it. Personally, I didn’t rate it. I couldn’t decide if I liked it or not. hehe

Oh no!! That’s pretty much how I think I’ll feel about it!!

Oh my God, sorry.. please don’t let this discourage you from reading it. I can’t rate it because while reading I was all ooooh and aaaahh.. It was really a fantastic read but I didn’t review it right away and by the time I get the time to do so, I already realized I was too focus on how descriptive the novel was and almost didn’t pay attention more on the plot. hehe

I’ve read all of the books on your list (except for one) and I loved them all! I hope that you can get to them in 2019! The only one that I haven’t read is Stormdancer……… which should have made my list as well…… but I was too ashamed to admit that I haven’t read it!! LOL! It’s my priority for 2019! Thanks for participating – added you to the list 🙂

Beware Of The Reader
How come you haven’t read lady Midnight yet??? I took a rain check on Top 5 Tuesday today due to family circumstances but if I had to venture some choices I’d say City of Brass and I Stop Somewhere …among many others!

Ummm, I just didn’t read it yet?? I don’t really have a reason… Except, I’ve been on a contemporary binge lately!!

Night Circus is really good! Hopefully you can read it soon!

I will get there! (eventually!!)

I know how you feel about The Night Circus. It just lies on my desk collecting dust from time to time. I do hope I will open it and read it some time. I am not sure why I am not doing it.
Meeghan reads
EXACTLY!!!! Well, if you’re looking for motivation we could schedule a buddy read?
Diana @ Thoughts on Papyrus
That is an idea. I am currently reading four other books more or less simultaneously, so I still need some time before getting to The Night Circus. So many books so little time.
