Top 5 anticipated reads for Q4 2024

Hello friends!! Welcome to Top 5 Tuesday!! This week’s topic is top 5 anticipated reads for Q4 2024!!

It is the LAST QUARTER for 2024!! ARGHHHH!! Which means it’s our final chance to scream about new books coming out this year. LOL, only joking. We should always scream about new books. Because books. Also, I only got through October releases… So maybe my freebie later this quarter will continue this list.

Also, a reminder note to everyone before we begin. Now that I’m scheduling these posts in advance (I know, wild right?), we’re going to use InLinkz for the rest of 2024 and see how that works. What this means is that you will be in charge of linking your own posts, rather than me scouring the web (or my spreadsheet) for them. Because I am scheduling posts, it means that I will be posting ahead of everyone because of *timezones*. So, it should be pretty easy for everyone to come in after they have posted and drop links in. Hopefully!!

In saying this, if this doesn’t work for whatever reason, we can go back to how it has been. Just let me know your thoughts down below.

The October to December 2024 topics are out now!! Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm, and is now being hosted here @ Meeghan reads.

Let’s go see my top 5 anticipated reads for Q4 2024.

Don’t Let the Forest In — C.G. Drews

Don't Let the Forest In by C.G. Drews

Once upon a time, Andrew had cut out his heart and given it to this boy, and he was very sure Thomas had no idea that Andrew would do anything for him.

Protect him. Lie for him. Kill for him.

High school senior Andrew Perrault finds refuge in the twisted fairytales that he writes for the only person who can ground him to reality Thomas Rye, the boy with perpetually ink-stained hands and hair like autumn leaves. And with his twin sister, Dove, inexplicably keeping him at a cold distance upon their return to Wickwood Academy, Andrew finds himself leaning on his friend even more.

But something strange is going on with Thomas. His abusive parents have mysteriously vanished, and he arrives at school with blood on his sleeve. Thomas won’t say a word about it, and shuts down whenever Andrew tries to ask him questions. Stranger still, Thomas is haunted by something, and he seems to have lost interest in his artwork   whimsically macabre sketches of the monsters from Andrew’s wicked stories.

Desperate to figure out what’s wrong with his friend, Andrew follows Thomas into the off-limits forest one night and catches him fighting a nightmarish monster Thomas’s drawings have come to life and are killing anyone close to him. To make sure no one else dies, the boys battle the monsters every night. But as their obsession with each other grows stronger, so do the monsters, and Andrew begins to fear that the only way to stop the creatures might be to destroy their creator…

The Wild Huntress — Emily Lloyd-Jones

The Wild Huntress by Emily Lloyd-Jones

Every five years, two kingdoms take part in a Wild Hunt. Joining is a bloody risk and even the most qualified hunters can suffer the deadliest fates. Still, hundreds gamble their lives to participate all vying for the Hunt’s life-changing prize: a magical wish granted by the Otherking.

BRANWEN possesses a gift no other human has: the ability to see and slay monsters. She’s desperate to cure her mother’s sickness, and the Wild Hunt is her only option.

GWYDION is the least impressive of his magically-talented family, but with his ability to control plants and his sleight of hand, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep his cruel older brother from becoming a tyrant.

PRYDERI is prince-born and monster-raised. Deep down, the royal crown doesn’t interest him all he wants is to know is where he belongs.

If they band together against the monstrous creatures within the woods, they have a chance to win. But, then again, nothing is guaranteed when all is fair in love and the Hunt.

Heir — Sabaa Tahir

An orphan.
An outcast.
A prince.

The Wedding Witch — Erin Sterling

The Wedding Witch by Erin Sterling

Bowen Penhallow has always been a loner, studying dark and ancient magic on a mountaintop in Wales. He prefers it that way, but when his friend Declan who happens to be a ghost asks him to attend a Yuletide wedding at a grand estate deep in the Welsh countryside, Bowen reluctantly agrees.

Tamsyn Bligh is not a witch, but she makes her living off of them. As a procurer and seller of magical items, Tamsyn’s business is not always above board, but she’s been trying to fix that (mostly). Bowen is an occasional customer as well as the star of several of Tamsyn’s dirtiest dreams but she’s been around enough witches to know that, as a human, getting involved with one is not the smartest idea. She’s finagled an invite to the Witchy Wedding of the Century in the hopes of finally making a score big enough to retire. Just one priceless magical artifact from Tywyll House would set her up for life.

But Tamsyn isn’t the only one sneaking about in Tywyll House, and the mix of a very strong spell combined with a wedding mishap transports Bowen and Tamsyn into Tywyll House’s past, to the Yuletide Celebration of 1957. As Bowen and Tamsyn work together to get back to the present, they must also face off with the origins of Tywyll House’s haunting, the suspicions of their fellow witches… oh, and the fact that somewhere between the mistletoe and the bonfire, they might be falling in love.
