Top 5 anticipated books of 2021

Hello bookworms!! Happy Tuesday!! Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is top 5 anticipated books of 2021.

I don’t know about you all, but every time I go to write 2021, I end up writing 20201… I feel like I haven’t had this problem before and it’s driving me nuts!!

OK, so most anticipated books of 2021!! How exciting!! Although to be entirely honest, I’m not really keeping up with a lot of publishing dates because I’m trying to buy less books in 2021… (it’s a goal!!) But these are some big name books… that I might already have pre-ordered… And pre-orders don’t count, right?!!

To be entirely honest though, I actually had a list of 12 books to start with, so I’ve only done the first 3 months of this year… is this a topic we might revisit again later? WHO KNOWS?!! (Not me… I am genuinely not that organised…) So, if you’re joining us and you want to cut your list, there are options!!

If you missed the January topics post, please click here!! Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm, and is now being hosted here.

top 5 anticipated books of 2021

A Court of Silver Flames โ€“ Sarah J Maas

A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J MaasAll references to the cover and title aside, I am genuinely excited for the Nesta book. Or the Nessian book. Whatever you want to call it. Although Nesta IS the queen. This book will have the ability to torture me in about 15 different ways, especially if it doesn’t live up to my expectations!!

To be entirely honest, I want more sass, more feminism and more power. I want to know that Nesta took everything she could hold onto from the Cauldron. I want her to destroy the patriarchy of the Illyrian camps. And I want her to be the most bad ass fae that the world has ever seen.

Covet โ€“ Tracy Wolff

Covet by Tracy WolffHoly moly. I finished Crush, and it was everything I never knew I wanted!! It’s 100% ACOTAR x Twilight, but super wholesome. I’m actually really surprised at just how wholesome it is considering other books that Tracy Wolff has written. But at the end of the day, I want more Hudson.

I don’t really know what I want out of this third book in the series except that. Maybe more magic, Grace figuring some more things out. Oh!! I want the memories, and I want… maybe more than kissing?!! Is that awful after I’ve been praising the wholesomeness of this series?!! ? ?

A Vow So Bold and Deadly โ€“ Brigid Kemmerer

A Vow So Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer*cue screaming* I am DYING to finish this trilogy by Brigid Kemmerer. And I’m (ever so slightly) put out that I didn’t get an ARC of this one!! (I got the first two, so I’m really just being whiny… ?) I’m just REALLY keen to finish Harper’s story and find out what happens!!

In all honesty, I’m cheering for both sides. I am NEVER a fence-sitter, but I just can’t choose. Rhen and Harper stole my heart in book 1, and Grey and Lia Mara ripped it right back in book 2. I guess we’ll just have to see what happens, but I’m praying for everyone to get a happy ending!!

An Echo in the Sorrow โ€“ Hailey Turner

Soulbound 6: An Echo in the Sorrow by Hailey TurnerSo, the cover for this one isn’t even out yet, but that doesn’t make me want it any less!! Yes, Soulbound book 6 is on its way and I am 10 shades of excited!! As much as I love this series, I feel like Patrick needs to win some fights, and I really want a resolution for the NY god pack.

I actually haven’t read anything about this one yet, because I want to keep the mythology side of it as much of a surprise as I can. Also, that cliffhanger at the end of book 5 almost KILLED me. Yes, I thought I was a ghost for a few moments after finishing that book. Just WOW.

Yolk โ€“ Mary H. K. Choi

Yolk by Mary H. K. ChoiYes, the first (and only) contemporary on this list is Yolk by Mary H. K. Choi. As you may remember, Choi came from absolutely left field in 2019 to almost take out my favourite book of the year with her debut YA novel, Emergency Contact. I read this book because someone told me they liked it, and they thought I would.

Well, I totally proved them right. However, I didn’t love Permanent Record as much… so I am hoping that this book makes me cry 18 times. Because for me, that’s what makes or breaks a novel.
