The Sleeping Beauty book tag

Good morning bookworms!

The lovely Siobhan at Siobhan’s Novelties has tagged me in the Sleeping Beauty tag. I love this tag because even though The Little Mermaid was my fave movie as a kid, Aurora was my favourite princess. I mean, how can you not love her? She has two of the loveliest names and SHE NAPS. Napping is my favourite hobby, after reading. Best Princess ever… after Merida (because I can’t go past a Princess who could shoot you either).

Sleeping Beauty | A Main/Title Character Who is Overshadowed by Others

Sleeping Beauty waking up

OMG, I genuinely had to look this character’s name up because that’s how overshadowed she was (also, I may have blocked this series from my brain already), but Nora from Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. She’s just so … docile, naïve and, well, bland.

Prince Phillip | Name a Character You Would Slay a Dragon For

Prince Phillip slaying Maleficent

Just one? Umm, ok. I would normally say Ronan Lynch, but he’s kind of into slaying his own demons, so this time I’ll go with Harper from A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer. (Seriously, I’d do a lot to win this girl’s affections.)

Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather | Your Favourite Fictional Dysfunctional Family
Flora, Fauna and Merryweather

Ummm, Jude’s family from The Folk of the Air trilogy by Holly Black. I mean, honestly, if you can find a more dysfunctional family, please let me know! Jude, her twin Taryn, and half sister (half-fae, half-human), Vivi; plus their “father” Madoc (who killed Jude’s real parents), his wife and their “brother” Oak. Plus with all the stuff that happened in The Cruel Prince, and then The Wicked King, I can’t even imagine more dysfunctional characters, let alone a family!

Maleficent | Name a Villain You Can Relate to (I mean, I might curse a few people for not inviting ME to a party)

Maleficent

AIDAN from The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I know right, not what you were expecting? Hear me out though! AIDAN is Artificial Intelligence. It doesn’t really have a motive, except to keep the most people safe. And if to do that they have to make a few hard decisions … well, I kind of see the logic behind it. (Because that’s what it is – cold, hard, apathetic logic.)

Briar Rose | A Book/Character Whose Name Confuses You/You Always Mess Up

Briar Rose

Anouk from Grim Lovelies by Megan Shepherd. It’s not actually confusing, but I feel like I might be butchering it every time I say it out loud!!

Once Upon a Dream | A Book That Gave You Deja Vu (♪♫♬ I know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam ♪♫♬)

Briar Rose dancing with woodland creatures

Not deja vu exactly… but there were elements at the start of The Crowns of Croswald by D.E. Night that were familiar. Also, I’m reading my second Beauty and the Beast retelling this month now, and they all have little pieces that are alike (obviously).

Blue Vs. Pink | A Character Who Can’t Make Up Their Mind

Dress changing from pink to blue

Unpopular opinion: Sebastian from Autoboyography by Christina Lauren. I need more space to explain this, so for the moment, can I just say: I’ll expand in my review (to come soon!)

Sleeping Spindle aka Fulfillment of the Curse | Name a Book That Turned Out Exactly How You Thought It Would Be (Good or Bad)

Aurora walking to the spindle

Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I thought it was very predictable, but this wasn’t an awful thing, I mean, it is a retelling, so it’s good in a way!

Tagging

I feel like I’ve been tagging a lot of people in things lately, so if you haven’t done this and you want to, then consider yourself tagged. (But please link back to me so I can check out your answers!)

Until next time, happy reading ??
