The ‘Relationshipper’ book tag

Good morning bookworms!

I have been trawling the interwebs to find inspiration for content, and came across the masterlist of masterlists. Yep, you heard me. I found a blog post that has THE ULTIMATE TOP 100 BOOK TAGS. *Formulates evil plans to take over the world by forcing everyone to do tags all the time.* (Only joking! Also, let me know if you’re keen on being tagged in these periodically as I don’t want to inundate people who aren’t interested.)

Rules
  1. Thank the blogger who tagged you – no one tagged me, but I did get this from Vikki @ My Mundane Life

Questions

1. Who was your first book crush?

It definitely has to be Laurie from Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. The original ‘boy-next-door’ in my life. I always wanted Laurie to marry Jo, and then when he didn’t I was CRUSHED. I’m pretty sure I was also like, twelve.

2. Who is your most recent book crush?

I’m going to cheat here slightly, and say Cardan from Holly Black’s The Folk of the Air series. Technically this crush is a year old, but since I recently read The Wicked King, it has flared up to my number one spot again.

3. What’s your favorite ship?

I’m going with Laurent and Damen from the Captive Prince trilogy by C.S. Pacat. Enemies to lovers and slow-burn relationship tropes are my ALL TIME FAVOURITE, and this is both. Also, there’s something so indescribably sweet about two soft marshmallow boys who will cut people that are mean to their significant other.

4. What’s a ship you hate?

Azriel and Elaine from A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Maas. But that’s mostly because I think Elaine is a waste of paper and ink, and Azriel deserves better.

5. What popular ship do you sink?

DEFINITELY Romione. I felt like it was so convenient that Rowling matched everyone off. Now, I am aware that it does happen, but really? TWO SETS of high school sweethearts getting married and living happily ever after? I just never believed that Ron and Hermione had enough in common to warrant a long-lasting relationship.

6. Which unpopular ship do you actually love?

I don’t know if it’s unpopular, or just not talked about because the series is SUPER UNDERRATED, but I really like Asha and Torwin from The Last Namsara. Their love was another enemies to lovers, but they’re just so pure!

7. What fictional character from a book would you date and why?

RONAN LYNCH from The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. No, I do not care that he is gay. I would become a boy just to date him. (Also, I feel like since he’s a fictional character I can make that claim.)

8. What would your first date with this character look like? What would you do?

Pizza at Nino’s, followed by wandering through Cabeswater, and then midnight drag-racing through the streets of Henrietta with really loud, base-heavy music. *sigh*

9. What’s a ship you’d like to third wheel with and why?

Definitely Simon and Blue from Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.

10. What ship was just unnecessary?

Amren and the guy from the Summer Court (no, I can’t even be bothered to look up his name) in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Maas. It really annoys me that Maas has this compulsive need to pair everyone off, with the one exception of her single gay character, who is IN THE CLOSET BECAUSE OF SHAME.

11. What is a relationship that you wish happened?

Fred and Hermione (aka Fremione). Hear me out. Rowling missed a perfect opportunity to kill off a main character in HP. I agree, one of the Weasley’s had to die, but a) she should NEVER have killed off one of the twins, b) it also couldn’t have been one of the ones who were basically invisible (Bill and Charlie), c) Percy had to make amends so it couldn’t have been him, d) the parents were out of the questions, and e) Ginny was the only girl. Therefore, it should have been Ron. Also, Fred had waaaaaaay more chemistry with Hermione. Yep, you heard me. That witty banter in the Common Room over skiving snackboxes sold me. He also would never have let her walk all over him, and Hermione needs someone who would stand up to her. Also, the twins were crazy intelligent, and Hermione needs someone smart she can talk to! I mean, how many successful business owners and inventors do you know who are SEVENTEEN?

12. What two characters from different fandoms would you like to see together?

Ronan Lynch and Tyrannus Basilton Grimm-Pitch, but they’re probably way too alike to really work. I’m also trying to not use Ronan for every single positive response.

Instead, let’s go with Luna Lovegood (HP) and Dameon (Obernewtyn). They are both very gentle souls, and I think that since Dameon is an empath (he can enhance or control people’s feelings), he and Luna would be a lovely, gentle match. (But yes, she is also good with Newt’s grandson.)

13. What ship that ended are you still mourning?

I won’t say because of spoilers, but the hint is WAFFLES. ???? PS: I AM NOT OK.

14. What’s your least favorite trope when it comes to book relationships?

Love triangles. It just feels so dramatic and unnecessary. Like, find tension in a different format! This is cheesy, lazy and boring. (Unless of course it is done is a really clever way, then I’m fine with it… but this is literally 1% of the time.)

15.  Jacob or Edward?

Neither? Edward was possessive bordering on abusive, and Jacob just never felt right. And Bella was super whiny anyway. (Also, I still don’t know how I feel about imprinting on a BABY.)

Tagging

I won’t tag anyone this time, but if you do want to be tagged in future things, or you want to do this one, just let me know!

Ummm, there was a lot of hate in there for a love/relationships tag… could it be that I’m bitter?? Until next time, happy reading!! ??
