    2020 mid-year freak out!

Hello bookworms!! A couple of weeks ago, the gorgeous duo of Marie and Nyx @ Drizzle Hurricane Books tagged me to do the mid-year freak out book tag. And I’m late to the party because I seem to be late at everything lately… Also, I don’t like to do this until after we hit the mid-way mark of the year because I’m a freaking rule-following Ravenclaw… (Also, posting schedule? What posting schedule? *throws desk planner diary out the window*) So, let’s get started!! Disclaimer: I will not be using any…

    April ’20 wrap-up

Good morning bookworms! April… jeez… I’m glad that’s over!! The world is still in isolation… Am I doing anything productive?? Not really!! Let’s talk about what happened last month… I survived the O.W.L.s, and managed to hit all the prompts I needed in order to go for the careers I want for my N.E.W.T.s!! I almost missed Potions because I couldn’t find a book under 150 pages – and at the last hour (literally between 11pm and midnight on 30 April) I just decided to reread a comic. But I…

    Top 5… sanity savers!

Good morning bookworms! Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is ‘sanity savers – things I’m enjoying while in isolation!’ Because so help me, I am starting to lose my mind… In saying that, today is day number… twenty-six that I have been in isolation. Now, that’s a lot for Australia. We had our first confirmed case in Canberra on 12 March, and I have been in lockdown / isolation / quarantine (whatever you want to call it) since Friday 13 March. Why? Because I am immunosuppressed. My immune system does this super…

    March ’20 book haul

Good morning bookworms!! It’s time for the monthly book haul!! Also… cast your mind back to the start of the year when I said I wanted to keep my hauls under 10 books per month? cough Ummm… you see, that really didn’t happen last month. I think I went crazy. I’m not even sure what happened. Maybe it was like an out of body experience? As per the new prettiness of the blog, book haul categories are as follows: book boxes book purchases (book mail, in-store, digital* and gifts) review…

    March ’20 wrap-up

Good morning bookworms! Let’s talk about March… ooof. I am telling you, someone needs to pull the plug on 2020 and let’s just restart this year, because between fire, floods and worldwide pandemic, I am done with 2020, and we’re only one quarter through. On a happier note, let’s talk about all the GOOD things from last month.   I read, a surprising, 9 books in March. Now, I know 9 isn’t normally a surprising number for me; however, up until the 28th of March I had only finished 5…

    O.W.L.s read-a-thon TBR 2020

Good morning book wizards and witches! IT’S O.WL.s TIME AGAIN!!! If you don’t know what O.W.L.s are then… you should read Harry Potter. OR you can watch Gintare’s video on YouTube about it!! But, very basically, Gintare (@BookRoast) runs a bi-annual read-a-thon based on the fifth and seventh year wizarding tests at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. O.W.L.s (Ordinary Wizarding Levels) are the fifth year tests, and in April we read a bunch of books that correspond to prompts the Gintare changes each year. The aim is to pick…

    Holidays ’18 TBR

Good morning bookworms! I’m on holidays! And I’m in the middle of packing my suitcase for our trip north to see our families! And because we’re taking the car, I can pack AS MANY BOOKS AS I WANT because there isn’t a luggage weight limit. Also, we’ll be gone for almost three weeks, so I’ll definitely want to pack a few! Now, my December TBR has been a disaster to date, so I’m throwing it out and starting again with a ‘Holiday TBR’. Basically, this is my process of validating…

    November ’18 book haul

As usual, we are splitting this into three sections: book boxes, book mail (online purchases that arrived), and book purchases (ebooks and in-store). November book boxes I subscribe to three monthly boxes: OwlCrate, FairyLoot and the book-only subscription for LitJoy. Nothing arrived this month though. OwlCrate’s book this month was Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan, which I got last month in the FairyLoot box, so I suspended my order for November, and both FairyLoot and LitJoy are still overseas according to my tracking emails! November book mail This month…
