Questions from Siobhan
So far, what are your top three reads this year?
I am definitely going to have the worst time this year cutting my top 10 down to a top 10. In fact, I’ve already been thinking about doing a top 10 fantasy and a top 10 contemporary/romance list because… then I get to name 20 books and I keep reading amazing books and OMFG I still have so many anticipated books to come out this year. (Can you tell I’m stalling from answering the question??) Oooh, I know. Let’s practice this now.
Top 3 fantasy:
- The Wicked King – Holly Black
- A Curse So Dark and Lonely – Brigid Kemmerer
- Nevermoor – Jessica Townsend
Top 3 Contemporary/Romance:
- Emergency Contact – Mary H. K. Choi
- The Hating Game – Sally Thorne
- The Boy Who Steals Houses – C. G. Drews
Which author would you do anything to see?
Maggie Stiefvater… well, probably not ‘anything’… I mean, I could fly to the US and go to her writing workshop…
What TV or movie adaptation are you eagerly wanting to watch?
The Raven Boys (but also with trepidations… we all know how I feel about adaptations…)
What book are you looking forward to most?
This is another toss up. My most anticipated book for 2019 was always Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff, but now we’re also getting The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black.
What type of post do you like writing?
I like writing recommendations and lists, but I need to schedule them into my blogging schedule more frequently!
Who is your latest OTP (one true pairing)?
Latest (as in most recent) is Phoebe and Josh from Freshmen by Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivison (and they’re not even a thing in the book… I just think they have that beautiful friendship base where they would have an amazing foundation if they did take the next step).
What is the last book that made you ugly cry?
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
What is a series you haven’t finished yet but want to?
I am mostly waiting on releases, but in terms of books that are out… I should probably read A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab.
If you could have any special edition book, which would it be?
The Goldsboro edition of Nevernight by Jay Kristoff (because I have the Godsgrave, and I’ve ordered the Darkdawn, so I want to complete the set.
If you would rerewatch your favourite TV show or movie, which one would you choose?
My go to answer for this was always Veronica Mars, but I am pissed at them for the new series… so, the BBC Pride and Prejudice.
What fictional pet/sidekick is your favourite?
Mogget from The Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix.

I would commit, er, very minor crimes to meet Maggie Stiefvater and attend her workshop. 😀 And oh no, is the new VM series not good??? I haven’t had the time to check it out yet!
Meeghan reads
Uhhhh… I loved the entire season, right up until about 10 minutes before the end. Then I just felt cheated, but it might be that it’s just me. I do still recommend it though. I mean, it’s VM, so 99% of it is amazing.
Jayati
Thank you for nominating me!!
Emergency contact is also one of my top reads for this year! The kiss quotient had so much angst and it made me cry as well!
Meeghan reads
Oh I really hope you love Emergency Contact!! (Although I totally understand that it isn’t for everyone.) The Kiss Quotient was so good. I really loved it ?
Holly
Ahh seeing Maggie Stiefvater would be amazing! Great tag!

YES, it would be so amazing!! (Also, I would drag all of my other books to her to sign!)
Veronika @ Wordy and Whimsical
Thank you so much for thinking of me! 🙂 The Wicked King was a disappointment for me, but I loved The Hating Game last year, super entertaining. I need to read The Boy Who Steals Houses, it’s sounds so wholesome and lovely. The Kiss Quotient is one of my favorite books, and The Bride Test was amazing as well – if you haven’t yet read it, I highly recommend doing so. 🙂
Meeghan reads
I was sent a copy of The Bride Test by publishers in Australia, but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet!! It’s definitely on my TBR for ARC August though. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy The Wicked King though ?
