October 2024 TBR

Hello friends!! Welcome to my October 2024 TBR. A post where I will attempt to take my best guess at what I will feel like reading for the upcoming month.

My September TBR was… a 50% completion rate. That’s a pass, right?! But, I also read the most amount of books I’ve ever read in a month, AND I hit my Goodreads goal of 100 books read. While I started the month with the intention to read light-hearted, fluffy books because I was sick, it definitely didn’t go that way. I read a lot of dark, heavy, violent romance books. Then I went to the fluffy, light romances. Then, I finally read The House for Lost Things by C.G. Drews (aka Paper Fury), which is the final book in The Boy Who Steals Houses trilogy. I SOBBED for like 300 pages. Out of 400 pages. Half a box of tissues and a crying-induced headache later, and I would 1000% marry Reece De Lainey. I don’t require any other book boyfriends. This is my life now.

Anyway, then I read a bunch of other books from my physical bookshelves. Some were challenge books. Some were because I looked at my ratio of physical unread to read books and I scared myself. If you want to hear more about any of these, please feel free to check out my WWW Wednesday posts because I usually do a 2 sentence… review? thoughts? write up? of each book I read.

So far in September (it’s the 28th now), I have read 21 books. Which, honestly, is just outrageous. And never would have happened without me being home sick from work for 4 weeks. I *might* finish one more, but I’m not counting on it.

So, let’s go see my TBR for October 2024. That I genuinely hope to stick to. Fingres crossed!!

October 2024 TBR

Ok, we are getting to the pointy end of 2024, so it’s time to start hauling butt on finishing my challenges. In order to help, I made myself a spreadsheet. Because *SPREADSHEETS* πŸ€©πŸ“ŠπŸ“ˆπŸ“ŠπŸ€©! It contains all of the books on my 12 in 12 challenge, my 24 in 24 challenge, and the Beat the Backlist challenge prompts. I posted about all of these at the start of the year in my 2024 challenges post. In that post I also mentioned that I’m doing some challenges in my Always Fully Booked planner, so I’ve added those into my spreadsheet as well. If you want to see the spreadsheet, you can do so here. It’s a new tab on my whole TBR spreadsheet, but you can toggle the tabs to Challenge Books to Read.

According to the spreadsheet, I have 30 unread books and 2 prompts to still find books for. What can I say? I am a procrastinator. I may find the remaining two prompts from unread books in my list, but I will have to go into my local bookstore to figure out one. Which I plan to do at some point in the next week…

So, that’s roughly 10 books per month for the rest of 2024. On top of that we also have the monthly book club picks, and then my mood reading to contend with.

So, how I’ve split the books that I will attempt to read in October are as follows (and in picture order):

  • 2 book club picks: Bookish Chaos (TBC β€” I will come back as soon as this is agreed), and the Romance Revelry Society (currently still being voted for, but the currently-winning book is one that also doubles for one of my 24 in 24 challenge books!! Huzzah!! I will come back and confirm if this changes.)

  • 1 buddy read (which I didn’t read in September for the Romance Revelry Society… oops, sorry friends!!)

  • 8 challenge books: I am picking some spookier books from my challenge lists, even though we don’t really do Halloween in Australia… and it’s very spring-like here right now!!

Given that I usually read about 9 books per month, this should be do-able… although I do have some work travel coming up so that’s at least 10 hours in planes and airports, so I might get some extra reading in too. This is all fantasy / horror, but that’s ok because I don’t need encouragement to read more romances… That will happen with or without them being on here.

Covers should be Goodreads links. Hopefully.

I hope you enjoy Her Majesty’s Royal Coven! I really liked it. I’m reading all witchy things all October long and I’m very excited, even if there’s no way I finish all 12 of the books on my TBR.

Well in South Africa the pass rate is like… 30% (school subjects) so definitely yes lol. I had wanted to read a couple of Chicagoland Vampires in August, moved it to September… no idea if I’ll get to it for October πŸ˜‚
