O.W.L.s read-a-thon wrap-up 2019

Good morning book wizards and witches!
Holy moly! Thank god that’s over. WHYYYYY do I think that signing up for reading challenges is a good idea? I am a MOOD READER. I am BAD at this. Let’s go see what I actually read this month, and then we can discuss how I am NOT *spoiler alert* going to be an Alchemist.

If you don’t know about O.W.L.s you can click on my post from last year HERE, or you can go watch G @ Book Roast‘s video HERE.

OWLs TBR and what I actually read

My TBR was pretty hardcore, I’ll be honest. And I DEFINITELY did not read many books on it. In fact, I threw the entire thing out and decided to ‘wing it’ about two weeks in.
I didn’t complete either of my buddy reads either. (I DNF’ed one and then I never started the second… I’m sure there is something wrong with me. Like, as soon as I say “I’m reading this book”, I then develop an allergic reaction to it.)

OK, so it’s not like I spectacularly failed. But I’m also probably pushing the friendship for a couple of the prompts… but I heard it was open to interpretation, so I’m taking them.
This also means that for the second year in a row, I did NOT pass History of Magic… oops?

Careers

So, what does this mean? Let’s break it down into the Wizarding Career that I wanted to aim for.

  • Alchemist (all 12 prompts)
  • Auror (Charms, DADA, Herbology, Potions, Transfiguration)
  • Curse Breaker (Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Charms, DADA, Potions, Transfiguration)
  • Healer (Herbology, Charms, DADA, Potions, Transfiguration and 3 of my choice)
  • Magizoologist (Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Herbology, Potions)

So, still in the running for three of them, and I could totally be the next Rolf Scamander, so everything is still looking good!!

I might take a week of holidays from work when the NEWTs are on!!
Until next time, happy reading ??

Haha keeping up with a TBR is a spectacular fail!
I am sorry you can’t be an alchemist this year but hey, there’s always next year!!
I didn’t end up reading the hooks on my TBR as well which I suspected since I’m a big mood reader and TBRs just don’t do it for me!
Luckily I was able to do the prompts I was aiming for and while I can’t be a Librarian (which was my 3rd choice) I can still be a Hogwarts Professor like I wanted!

YAAAAYYY!! I’m still in the running for a couple of choices. We will get there!! (I mean, I wanted to be a lawyer irl when I was young, and I just never got there, so this should really not be a disappointment any more!! ?)

  • Beware Of The Reader

Bwahahaha I can never complete a challenge, Goodreads aside and our own Ultimate Reading Challenge Meeghan! As I have just ordered radio Silence by Alice Oseman (she comes to YALC London this summer) I will go read your review!

  • Rachael

I totally failed mine too lol ?.
Like not even a little bit, I only finished one of the 6 or so books I had planned on reading. And then I listened to a bunch of audiobooks because I suddenly had an aversion to actually reading with my eyes??
Like you did I made it work at the end. So yay! Haha

    • Meeghan reads

YAAAAAAAASSSSS!! Also Nifflers and Bowtruckles and so many other beautiful creatures!! (we may need to make a stop in the Star Wars universe to collect a porg, one of the crystal foxes and some other gorgeous creatures too)

Let's chat!
