November 2021 book haul
Hello bookworms!! Welcome to the November 2021 book haul!! A monthly post where I usually shame myself for never achieving my goal of buying less than I read, or sticking to my buying goal.
November is definitely the worth month on record for 2021. I *may* have gone slightly overboard with black Friday sales. But honestly, I don’t regret it. Because despite the fact that I am (very quickly) running out of space for books, it’s alright. A large chunk of the books I bought this month were ebooks. So, I don’t need to find a home for them!! (Thank goodness…) I did have to stop myself from buying a physical copy of one when I saw it at a bookstore though…
In case you aren’t aware (which, fair, because I never made an announcement post, although I do mention this every month) my goal for each month is to only purchase 7 books, split between purchased books and books from book boxes. So, 7 paid books in total. But also I need to read more books than I collect each month, including review books. So it’s kind of a 2-part goal. That I very rarely meet. But, rules are made to be broken!! When it comes to book hauling anyway…
So, let’s go see the books I hauled in November!!
November 2021 book haul
Book haul categories are as follows:
- subscription boxes
- book purchases (book mail, in-store and ebook*)
- review copies (book mail, digital and gifts)

I subscribe to three monthly boxes: OwlCrate (which I sometimes skip and sometimes swap to OwlCrate Jr), FairyLoot and the book-only subscription for Illumicrate. I also subscribe to the quarterly book-only option for LitJoy. Plus I sometimes buy the special edition books they put out, but only if I loved the series, or I got the special edition of book 1 as part of the monthly box.
So, here is where I’m up to as at the end of November:
- ð = arrived in a previous month
- â = arrived this month
- ð = in transit
- âĄïļ = skipped
- ð ŋïļ = parked (not out yet)
- âđ = did not switch to
- â = confirmed that it was lost to the mail gremlins (but thankfully refunded)
I know December hasn’t happened yet, but I’ve started to forget which books I got and which ones I skipped, and I have to keep looking it up… So I’m adding it in early.

All of which means, I got my October FairyLoot box in November (and I’m still fighting with AusPost over my September OwlCrate box). Plus I got three of my special edition books. Which gave me a grand total of:
- Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber
- Heartstopper Vol 1 by Alice Oseman
- When the Night Breaks by Janella Angeles
- The Scorpio Races 10th anniversary edition by Maggie Stiefvater
Unbelievably, this is only my second copy of The Scorpio Races, and although I love the blue cover and all the other fancy bits, in my head the original is still the best. However, the FairyLoot copy of Once Upon a Broken Heart is absolutely STUNNING.
FairyLoot are killing it lately with their editions. Almost all of them have had sprayed or stenciled edges, gorgeous naked hardcovers, double-sided dust jackets with beautiful art and end pages to die for. They are actual works of art, and if they do decide to go down the book-only option next year, then I’ll be more likely to get the book each month. I made sure to find a link with photos of all of the bits of the October book â so go check it out!!
So, here we are, all of the new books that I bought in November!! Which, was far more than I was intending to… So, before we get to the Kindle sales slip, I was already at 10 books. Some of them were preorders and just happened to be published in November. And some were me just buying. Regardless it means I went well over my book buying limit this month!! Can I blame the black Friday sales?? And Kindle??
My only saving grace here is that I have already read 6 of these, and was reading another at the start of December. So I’m not adding too many to my TBR… but I’m also not crossing off old TBR either…
