Mini life update 2018
Hi guys! I hope you had a nice Christmas, and best wishes for the coming New Year!
I’ve decided to postpone the remainder of my posts I had planned for the last week of the year. The reason behind this is that we didn’t have a great Christmas. We were away visiting family from the 22nd, and on Christmas Eve our house was broken into and burgled. The thieves stole about $20,000 (AUD) worth of our stuff, including my husband’s motorbike, our new TV, all the gaming consoles (and games), and every piece of jewellery that I owned with the exception of the three things I was wearing. Anyway, our cat sitter found the mess late on Christmas Eve and called the police, who then contacted us. Our three indoor-only cats were also missing at this point.
Needless to say we were absolutely gutted. We spent Christmas Day in the car driving the 8-hour trip back to the house instead of spending the time with my mum, my brother, his fiance and my nephew (it was his first Christmas too). Today we had the crime scene unit come and take a lot of photos and fingerprint stuff before we could start cleaning and putting our house back together.
Thankfully all three kitties have returned home of their own volition – so there are things to be grateful for. The rest of it is just stuff, although it’s still upsetting to know that people have touched all your things and taken whatever they pleased.
So, I guess the point to all this is that I probably won’t be reading much over the coming days. We’re hoping to still be able to go back north to see the family for a little longer – we weren’t planning on coming home until January 8 – but we need to see how things pan out here with the police investigation and insurance paperwork, etc. So, I guess I’ll be on a mini hiatus. I do have two blog posts scheduled in the next couple of days, and these will still go ahead, but I won’t be writing any new ones. I’m really sorry if you comment on something and I don’t get back to you straight away, I’m in a bit of a funk at the moment! Hopefully I’ll be back bigger and better from next week.
Fingers crossed 2019 is a much better year for everyone (even if you had an amazing 2018)! Much love, and until next time, happy reading! ??

I’m very sorry that happened! Thankfully your fur babies made it home safely, and I hope the investigation and paperwork goes well. I know from experience how upsetting burglary can be.

That is just horrid, I am really sorry to hear this happened to you. I am glad your cats came back, but I hope they catch the people who did this.

I’m so sorry to hear that! People are so incredibly selfish and I wish I could slap the people who did this to you.
I hope you’re able to get closure on the situation and Justice is served. Happy to hear your kitties came back, though!

This is so heartbreaking. I’m so glad the kitties are okay and safe at home. I really hope the rest of this year and new year is better.

Oh Meeghan, I’m so sorry! Glad the cats found their way home. I truly hope those responsible are caught and you are able to recover your belongings. Although I know it’s not so much about THINGS as it is about such and invasion of privacy. Sending lots of love to you.

OMG that’s awful! We had a BAE more than twenty years ago when we lived in Portugal for some time and I recall the feeling when I opened the door. I felt like violated. This is traumatizing… I hope everything will get back to normal soon!

Yay the kitties are safe. But nay to everything else. I hope 2019 is better.

Oh no, I am so terribly sorry this happened to you and over the holidays no less. I am glad that your kitties returned home, and I hope the police/insurance hassle isn’t too bad. xoxo

Oh my god, I am so sorry Meeghan. I’ve had my car broken into a couple of years ago, and even though the thief didn’t take much, the anxiety that you have to deal with afterwards is absolutely awful. I’m glad to hear your kitties are safe and I hope the investigation leads to something concrete. <3
