Liebster Award #5
Good morning bookworms!
I am so sorry that I have been away most of this last week. Between travel for work, getting a terrible chest infection (which I still have) and basically falling asleep every time I pick up a book, as well as continuing to make a DnD character for our new game that starts in a week AND playing the Bookish Games, I’ve had a lot on… and I think I need more naps. I definitely need to get over this chest infection. My face, throat and chest are all so sore!!
Anyway, enough of me whining!! The lovely Rukky @ Eternity Books tagged me in the Liebster Award in April… and I am trying to catch up!!

- Answer the 11 questions the person has asked you (Rukky has mysteriously cut this down to 5, but I am NOT complaining!)

Rukky’s Questions
What’s your favorite pastime when you aren’t reading or blogging?
Baking!! I love baking. I bake cake, cupcakes (they are different!), cookies, biscotti, slice. I want to try my hand at baking bread, but yeast is so finicky and every time I get some I always worry that I’m not looking after it, and then I get too scared to use it, so it just grows and grows, and then I go away for a weekend and it dies. I also get worried because I can’t eat sourdough because of the live cultures in its yeast (also yoghurt) and that then makes me freak out about other yeast… I really just need to get a grip!!
What’s your go to genre?
98% of the time I would say fantasy, but this year I think I’ve actually read more contemporary than fantasy… which is unheard of!
How many books do you plan on reading this year?
My goodreads goal is 90, but my secret goal is 100. I have read 84 books so far this year, so as long as this illness-slump doesn’t keep me down too long, I should be ok!!
Which three characters would you love to switch places with for a day? Why?
Morrigan Crow (the Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend) – because this is a fantasy world that I think I can actually live in and potentially not die!! Also, if you can read these books and not want to live at the Hotel Deucalion forever, then I’m not sure we’re reading the same books. Also, I think I need the ‘smoking room’ right now. Maybe some eucalyptus and fresh linen would be good!
Emmy King (The Brightsiders by Jen Wilde) – Emmy has had it rough, however, she’s pulled herself up and found an amazing group of friends and a found family to die for. Also, I really just want to be a drummer in a world famous band for a day. Plus, she writes music and is just amazingly talented. I also love how she is unashamedly her. Bright hair, tick. Purple lipstick, tick. Rocking badass, tick!
Simon Snow (Simon Snow series by Rainbow Rowell) – Look, Simon’s story also isn’t really a happy one, nor is his world particularly safe… (wow… what sort of books do I read?! A: ones where I would die or be miserable…) but would I get to make out with Baz for a day? Hopefully yes. (If not, can I have Simon’s wings to fly??)
Share a fun fact about yourself.
A fun fact?! Uhhhh… I can’t even think of an un-fun fact…
I have SIX parcels to go pick up at the post office today. I think most of them (if not all of them) are books. That’s kind of fun. I’m hoping my August FairyLoot is in the mix… If only because I really want to read Serpent and Dove.

?? You’re making progress!! And lol, answering 11 questions is a lot!! Kind of! Especially when I’m pressed for time ?
Bread is pretty fun to make (DOUGH!!! U GET TO PLAY WITH DOUGH!!) even though I hate waiting for it to rise. Lately I’ve been making 30 minute dinner rolls and adding more sugar and it tastes like good old bread anyway! And it’s so SO GOOD ??? It smells heavenly, it’s delicious, and honestly, I’m going to go make bread tomorrow. But you shouldn’t be scared of yeast lol. I usually get them in packets, instead of the big pack, or the glass containers, because then I don’t have to store them in the fridge. Just open a packet, pour it into some warm water, add a little sugar, and watch it grow! It’s nothing to be scared of even if it’s alive ? I’m not sure about live cultures or if you’re able to eat it, so check on that first!
Good luck with your reading goal!! You’re doing so much better than me ?
?? Hopefully you will get Baz if you ever switch places with Simon ????
I hope you enjoy your new books and that you get Serpent & Dove!! I’ve heard so much about it lately.
Thanks for doing the tag lovely ?

Ah I hear you, I flip between fantasy and contemporary too 🙂 And I’d love to switch with simon snow, even if he doesn’t have the happiest story! Awesome answers!
