June 2021 book haul

Hello bookworms!! Welcome to the June 2021 book haul!! A monthly post where I shame myself for never achieving my goal of buying less than I read…

June is my birthday month, so I always feel that it and December kind of get an exemption from my goal… Unless of course the number of books is ridiculous. And this year it wasn’t… ish!! So that’s nice.

In case you aren’t aware (which, fair, because I still don’t think I’ve posted it…) my goal for each month is to only purchase 7 books, split between purchased books and books from book boxes. So, 7 paid books in total. But also I need to read more books than I collect each month, including review books. So it’s kind of a 2-part goal.

So, let’s go see all the books I got in June!!

June 2021 book haul

Book haul categories are as follows:

• subscription boxes
• book purchases (book mail, in-store and ebook*)
• review copies (book mail, digital and gifts)

* Not counting Kindle Unlimited

I subscribe to three monthly boxes: OwlCrate (which I sometimes skip and sometimes swap to OwlCrate Jr), FairyLoot and the book-only subscription for Illumicrate. I also subscribe to the quarterly book-only option for LitJoy.

So, here is where I’m up to as at the end of June:

• ? = arrived in a previous month
• ✅ = arrived this month
• ? = in transit
• ➡️ = skipped
• ?️ = parked (not out yet)
• ❎ = did not switch to
• ❌ = confirmed that it was lost to the mail gremlins (but thankfully refunded)

So… no book box books in June!! Which is great news, because I probably have way too many coming in the next few months with all of the above special editions. But, a girl has to have matching editions. Or something.

I do try and aim for 5 books per month, and that was all I bought for myself in June (YAY ME!!). BUT, again, it was birthday month, and I did get books for present from some friends. And also from my mum (who technically gave me money for clothes, but I bought books anyway… LOL). So, there are 13 books on the list below… Which is slightly over my limit for the month!!

You may remember that I got an Owlcrate copy of Mister Impossible in May. The copy I received in June is my signed and personalised one from the independent bookstore in Virginia that Maggie works with. I am ashamed to say that I didn’t get to any of these in June (nor so far in July…). Work has been ridiculously busy – hence me not writing my haul until 15 July – but I am hoping to catch up soon. You know, whenever “soon” hits my calendar!!

And finally, no review copies either!! *phew* (Because I cannot keep up right now!!)
