June '19 wrap up
Good morning bookworms!
OMG how are we in the second half of 2019 already?!
So, I read 6 books in June (well, I DNF’ed 2, so I guess I only read 4?), and I’m trying very hard not to beat myself up for it. which is definitely my smallest monthly count for this year so far. However, I got through some review books, and that’s the main thing… (well, I’ve also already read 4 books in July, so I think I’m definitely coming up the other side of the slump!!)

Top read for the month was my reread of Maggie Stiefvater’s The Scorpio Races – I mean, seriously, if you haven’t read it, you really should – there’s a reason that this book is my all-time favourite novel (and the audiobook is just as good as the physical copy!). Links above for reviews, and I think I’ve only really got a couple more to write!!
So, as previously mentioned, I won’t be doing set TBRs any more. (I still need to redo my banner!!) However, I will be noting review books that I have to read this month because they are due!
- The Gamer’s Guide to Getting the Girl – Kristine Scarrow (thanks Netgalley)
- Toffee – Sarah Crossan (thanks Bloomsbury)
- The Bride Test – Helen Hoang (thanks Allen and Unwin)
Plus these two left over from May:
- We are Blood and Thunder – Kesia Lupo (thanks Bloomsbury)
- StepSister – Jennifer Donnelly (thanks Hotkey)
Well… I wouldn’t say that I slacked off as such, but there were a few days that my blog definitely didn’t get the love and attention it deserved (from me, not from you! You all are amazing!). I was planning on fixing that towards the end of the month with a bit of extra love, but that plan was thwarted as well when I hurt my back… Seriously, July will be my month to catch up!!
So, there were some pretty amazing posts out there this month (although I apologise because I am behind on blog-hopping as well). These are some of my faves that I saw:
- Michelle @ Michelle Likes Things wrote the most amazing post about bi-erasure that EVERYONE needs to read
- Siobhan @ Siobhan’s Novelties wrote a great post about how hurtful it is to the book community when people sell ARCs
- Ruby @ Ruby’s Books talks about ratings and reviews, and the drama that can be when authors get involved (she’s got some awesome examples too)
- Isabelle @ Bookwyrm Bites taught me how to use blocks and other amazing formatting rules for WordPress (effectively saving YEARS from my blogging schedule)
- Ruqs @ Many Bookish Things gave the BEST advice (and step-by-step guide) for what to do if you’re in a reading slump!!
WE MOVED HOUSE!! Finally!!
I also had a birthday, and then I sprained three discs in my back. Both of which were somewhat painful, but the latter was far worse.
Only joking, my birthday was great. I worked from home that day, in my pj’s, and a) I got to buy books and b) my armchair for my ‘library/study’ arrived. Best day ever!!

I’m so sorry about your back!! I hope you get better soon ? Haha, I only read 4 books in June so you did much better than me! The cover of The Scorpio Races has me intrigued, so I’m headed over to your review. I hope July is a lot better and a much more spectacular month for both of us ❤

Quality not quantity, I say! Those 4 books were all 4s and 5s, which I think is great!!! Sorry to hear about your back, I hope you are feeling better soon.

Oh no!! I have a lot of stretches and honestly, it’s making such a difference. I could bend far enough yesterday to tie my own shoelaces for the first time in 2 weeks. I’m basically fixed!! ?

Haha, I bought the US cover as I got it from a store in Virginia, and had it signed and posted. It’s like one of my most treasured possessions.
Isabelle @ BookwyrmBites
you may have only finished 4 books in June, but at least they were all good ones! though I definitely relate to that feeling of not having read enough as my TBR and ARC deadlines loom over my head – just something we live with as book bloggers / readers, I guess ?
but I hope your July goes better, and thanks for linking my post!

Ha, yes, I am so glad that all the June books I finished were good!! It was definitely a quality over quantity month!! I’ve already finished 2 books this month and another only has about 60 pages left, so I’ll be reading more this month!! (Come on all those goals I set!!)
