July 2024 TBR

Hello friends!! Welcome to the July 2024 TBR. A post where I will attempt to intuit what I feel like reading for the month of July.

If you cast your mind back to my June TBR post, I drafted it with the assistance of ChatGPT. And… I absolutely failed. I read a grand total of one book out of the ten that AI picked for. Although, to be fair, it was the ONLY 5-star read for June that I had. Which possibly says more for AI picking popular books than for me not reading them. Or maybe it doesn’t. Who knows. Anyway, we are back to my normal selection method for July. Which is essentially just me staring at my shelves thinking “but what might I actually read?” Mood reading is just not great for reducing my TBR…

So, following me staring at my shelves for about an hour (I wish I was joking)… let’s see my TBR for July 2024. That I may or may not stick to.

July 2024 TBR

Ok, so… first let’s briefly discuss my June 2024 TBR properly. Because technically I did read more than one book. I actually read three, and another was going to be a reread, so not reading it didn’t affect my TBR at all. I read one book from the AI section, one from book club (buddy reads) and one from my ‘still to finish’ section. Which is fine considering how many books I put on my TBR.

For starters this month we’re reducing the number of books on here. Twenty books was too many options and just got my mood reading brain confused about the options. Also, it was starting to feel like all of the books that I had started were just sitting there judging me for not finishing them yet.

So, how I’ve split the books that I will attempt to read in July are as follows:

  • 2 book club picks

  • 1 buddy read (which is a 12 in 12 challenge book as well)

  • 5 (other) books from my challenge lists (1 more from my 12 in 12 list, and four from my 24 in 24 list)

  • 2 books that I’ve started this year and just really need to finish

  • 2 books that are recent ebook purchases

This leaves me with twelve books for the month of July. I originally had eleven, but I couldn’t abide having an odd number, so I’ve added one, rather than removing one. Because I’m weird like that.

Covers should be Goodreads links. Hopefully.
