July ’20 TBR: Pop Culture Readathon

Good morning bookworms!

So… this is a bit late, but there’s a reason for it. I completely forgot that I had intended on doing the Pop Culture Readathon this month. And because I forgot, my plan was to just reread the Mortal Instruments (which I have almost totally forgotten because the TV series has stolen what actually happened from my mind, and also it’s been YEARS – like, at least 6 – since I’ve read them), and then finally start get a start on the 10,000 other Shadowhunter books I am behind on.

However, now that Twitter has reminded me that I said I’d do this, let’s see if I can smash some books into the prompts for the board I chose!!

OK, so I chose (at the very start of June, which is why I forgot about it…) the Thrill Ride board. This is probably an interesting choice for me, because I always VEHEMENTLY say that I do not read horror or thriller books. Nor do I really watch movies in those genres. But you know what I did watch a lot of in the 90’s? Slasher teen creepy movies, which is a) probably what has scarred me for life, and b) basically covers all the below prompts!!

This board actually works really well with my shadowhunter reading, as I can shove some in that fit quite nicely, and I think I can fit in some graphic novels that I’ve had piling up as well to help hit as many prompts as I can. Because, you guessed it, I’m going to try and hit the whole board, not just a bingo!!

I doubt very much that I will read all of these (especially Ninth House), but it’s a nice list and a good guide if I get stuck!!

What books are you reading in July?

until next time, happy reading! Meeghan xo
