January 2024 TBR

Hello friends!! Welcome to the first TBR that I have done in over a year, the January 2024 TBR.

Yes, it’s finally happened. I have cracked under the weight of my extensive TBR (now sitting at a whopping 545 physical books) and will be putting actual TBRs into place each month. Until I either forget about them, or run off and mood read for three months and then throw my hands up.

me with my TBR, likely by April

So, with all of that inspiration to look forward to, let’s build a TBR for January 2024.

January 2024 TBR

OK, so, to address an elephant that’s likely only in my mind in this part of the room, here’s where I’m at.

It is 1 January (Happy New Year!!), and I still don’t really know what challenges I’m signing up for this year. Apart from my normal Goodreads goal (100 books), Kal @ Reader Voracious’ Backlist Challenge and/or Austine Decker’s Beat the Backlist 2024 (thank you Kal and Austine for posting these in the last 24 hours and reminding me).

Theortically I try to read about 10 books per month to ensure we hit the target. And ideally I’d like most of those to be backlist books. Unsurprisingly, this is quite easy in January, and then gets harder as the year goes on.

So, I’m going to start with some books I’ve already started (it’s not cheating!), and some books I’ve been really wanting to read. Plus one new release that I may as well try and hit because I know I will read it ASAP. I can also try to tick off some BTB bingo prompts. And, because I’m actually cray, we’re starting with the 52-prompt list.

Covers should be Goodreads links. Hopefully.

The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
The Sinister Booksellers of Bath by Garth Nix
Bookshops and Bonedust by Travis Baldree
A Duet with the Siren Duke by Elise Kova
Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall
The Dreadful Tale of Propser Redding by Alexandra Bracken
The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J Maas
The Wake-Up Call by Beth O'Leary
