January 2022 book haul

Hello bookworms!! Welcome to the January 2022 book haul!! A monthly post where I talk about all the books that I hauled in the previous month.

This year, we’re doing things slightly differently. The post itself won’t change a great deal (at this point in time) — but, by ‘differently’ I mean there won’t be any shaming for buying excess than my haul goals.

But also, I actually posted my haul goals this year, so that’s a step in the right direction!! Yes, we’re making it happen!! (But also, I’m trying not to impulse buy every book I see on instagram…) The main goal for the year, it to buy less books than I read. But also, I’m trying not to increase my TBR this year. 😓

So, let’s go see the books I hauled in January!!

January 2022 book haul

Book haul categories are as follows:

• subscription boxes
• book purchases (book mail, in-store and ebook*)
• review copies (book mail, digital and gifts)

* Not counting Kindle Unlimited

I subscribe to a bunch of book boxes that are monthly/quarterly, and whole box/book-only. Plus I sometimes buy special edition books. International shipping continues to be the bane of my existence, but given how much I’ve been skipping lately, it’s been less of a problem.

So, here is where I’m up to as at the end of January:

• 💟 = arrived in a previous month
• ✅ = arrived this month
• 🚚 = in transit
• ➡️ = skipped
• 🅿️ = parked (not out yet)
• ⏹ = did not switch to
• ❌ = confirmed that it was lost to the mail gremlins (but thankfully refunded)

Because I skip the next month before this month is over, I’m keeping following month on here to keep track!!

My November LitJoy *finally* arrived. I can’t even remember the theme of the box, it was so long ago. But the book itself was Dreams Lie Beneath by Rebecca Ross.

I’d just like to say, that I am starting the year off on the RIGHT foot. Yes, I kept to my goal!! Winning!!

In January I had four physical books arrive — all of which were pre-orders (some of which took forever because of international shipping). And I made 2 ebook purchases. Although, one of them was a boxset of four books. For the price of one. (Not my fault — I was going to buy one, but then I saw that I could get the whole series for the same price. That’s like buy one, get 3 free. How could I not?)

Which means, that I only increased my physical TBR by FIVE books total. And I read NINE physical books from my TBR.  Therefore I ended the month with less books on the TBR than I started!! 🎉🎉🎉
