January ’20 book haul

Good morning bookworms, and thanks for still being here!!

I am back from hiatus and have decided that I might just ease up on myself this year and post a couple of times per week instead of every day. That will likely make some of my goals from last month unachievable, but it’s about putting me first rather than my expectations!!

But let’s get into what we’re all here for today, which is BOOKS!!

Book haul categories are as follows:

  • book boxes
  • book purchases (book mail, in-store, digital* and gifts)
  • review copies (book mail and digital), and
  • bookish items (book related, but not actual books).

* Not counting Kindle Unlimited

I subscribe to three monthly boxes: OwlCrate, FairyLoot and the book-only subscription for LitJoy. In January I skipped all the boxes, except for OwlCrate. (I mean, did you SEE the new Harry Potter mug by Cara Kozic?! It’s fifth year themed and my FAVE!!)

  • OwlCrate’s January theme was Vengeance Will Be Mine, and the book was Scavenge the Stars by Tara Sim.

I’ve gotta be honest… I don’t really love the OwlCrate exclusive cover for this one…

Fingers crossed these continue to be small for 2020!!

I got more pins… surprise!! And while I haven’t taken photos of the new ones, these are some more of the old photos that I haven’t shared yet!!

Pins from Kit Cronk Studio
Pins from Kit Cronk Studio

Kit from Kit Cronk Studio is a fellow Aussie who makes a variety of wooden and enamel pins. But also stickers, prints, mugs, t-shirts, and cards (the cards are hilarious).

While a lot of them are bookish, there’s also some that highlight inequality in society (in the pins the asylum ticket is for asylum seekers, and the pocket equality is for feminism). But also there’s a whole femi-nerd series coming this year and I am here for it. My faves in the pins are the ‘salty’ mermaid and the ‘self rescuing princess’ collection – of which I actually have 4 as I have the wooden version of this as well.

Left to right, top to bottom is: ‘Salty’ blue mermaid, ‘Dragon lady’ green dragon, ‘Gold digger’ black niffler, ‘Drama Queen’ red phoenix, ‘Pocket equality’ in black glitter and rose gold, ‘A well read woman is a dangerous creature’ in wood, ‘Fangirling in process’ in wood, ‘Rise, Red as the dawn’ in wood, ‘I’d rather be reading’ in wood, ‘Treat yo shelves’ in wood, ‘Up to no good’ Marauders Map in black glitter, ‘Asylum – Admit one’ in white glitter, ‘Representation matters’ in black glitter and rose gold, ‘Self rescuing princess’ in purple glitter, ‘Pocket equality’ in white glitter, ‘Asylum – Admit one’ in black glitter and rose gold, ‘Nevertheless we persisted’ in purple and white, ‘Self rescuing princess’ in matte black, and ‘Self rescuing princess’ in white glitter.
