February 2021 book haul
Hello bookworms!! Welcome to the February 2021 book haul!! A monthly post where I shame myself for never achieving my goal of buying less than I read… (spoiler – March will be no different, it’s the 6th and I’m already over my 5 book limit…)
Actually, come to think of it, I still haven’t posted my goals for 2021… But my plan for book buying this year is similar to my one from last year. Last year it was no more than 10 books per month. This year I’m saying no more than 5 books PURCHASED each month, which will include book boxes. However, if a book box has 2 books, then it’s counted as extra because I can’t control that. Unless I’m buying a set, in which case I’m probably screwed (especially when Sabaa Tahir’s An Ember in the Ashes FairyLoot set arrives *cough* which has now arrived in time for March’s epic list…).
February 2021 book haul
Book haul categories are as follows:
- subscription boxes
- book purchases (book mail, in-store and ebook*)
- review copies (book mail, digital and gifts)
* Not counting Kindle Unlimited

Emoji table for reference
I subscribe to three monthly boxes: OwlCrate (which I sometimes skip and sometimes swap to OwlCrate Jr), FairyLoot and the book-only subscription for Illumicrate. I also subscribe to the quarterly book-only option for LitJoy.
I’ve heard rumours that FairyLoot are looking at a book-only subscription too… so watch this space!!
So, here is where I’m up to as at the end of February:
- ? = arrived in a previous month
- ✅ = arrived this month
- ? = in transit
- ➡️ = skipped
- ?️ = parked (not out yet)
- ❌ = confirmed that it was lost to the mail gremlins (but thankfully refunded)
Owlcrate | FairyLoot | Illumicrate | Owlcrate Jr | LitJoy | |
January | ➡️ | ✅ | ➡️ | (Feb) | |
February | ➡️ | ➡️ | ?️ | ➡️ | |
Special Editions | ✅ All the Tides of Fate |
? ? ? ?️ |
?️ Dreams of Gods and Monsters / Days of Blood and Starlight |
Which means, the following books arrived in February:
- January’s FairyLoot had Lore by Alexandra Bracken
- Owlcrate’s special edition of All the Tides of Fate by Adalyn Grace arrived
I’m actually really disappointed by the FairyLoot dust jacket cover of Lore. I really liked the original cover, but I do like the sprayed edges and other bits FairyLoot did. My biggest pet peeve is that the spine of the dust jacket has no words – so when you put it on the shelf there’s no way to tell what it is if you didn’t already know.
So technically I bought 7 books in February, but one of them was a multiple edition – I bought 2 copies of A Court of Silver Flames. In Australia we don’t often get hardcover books, so instead we get these giant paperbacks on release day. So I bought a giant paperback to read on release day while my Barnes and Noble hardcover with bonus content was making its way overseas.

These are all books that I’ve either been trying to find locally for ages (and gave up and ordered them online), or books that I’ve been SUPER excited to come out. So, I think this means that I’m getting better at not just randomly buying books “just because”.
AHHH!! I got sent one of the cutest books ever last month!! Can’t wait to share my review next week!! (But while you wait, this is my review for Only Mostly Devastated by Gonzales from last year.)

Wowww you really had a great book haul month (as someone who usually just gets books from the library unless it’s christmas or my birthday, this is shocking to me haha). I hope you enjoy all your books! I also got the Owlcrate edition of All the Tides of Fate–it was so good! and the cover was awesome. I really hope you like Cemetery Boys, it was an awesome book.
Best of luck on your reading in March!
